【TOYOSU MARKET/Tokyo】Eating around, hot springs, tuna auction tour, and more.|Japan Travel Guide
Japan travel guide from train stations. This time we will introduce Shijo-mae Station on the Yurikamome Line. Senkyaku Banrai is a three-story commercial facility that opened right next to Toyosu Market in 2024. It consists of the hot spring facility “Manyo Club” and the “Toyosu Outer Market: Edomae Market,” where visitors can enjoy gourmet food and shopping, offering a taste of Toyosu’s unique vibrancy. The “Toyosu Outer Market: Edomae Market” on the second floor, directly connected to the station, is an open-air mall perfect for strolling and eating, designed to recreate the streetscape of old Edo. This is the limited-edition “Sumo Beer” from Senkyaku Banrai. It’s still early afternoon, but today I’d like to try the “Sumo Beer” here. A well-chilled beer pairs perfectly with freshly fried horse mackerel. This is Hamakaze Sabo, a traditional matcha tea house. Here you can enjoy matcha drinks and sweets made with Yamecha, a premium brand tea from Fukuoka Prefecture known for its sweetness and rich umami flavor. I ordered the Matcha Latte at this shop. It had a rich matcha aroma and was absolutely delicious. This is the souvenir shop “Toyosu Engimono.” We carry a wide selection of souvenirs that embody Japanese culture, focusing on food items, lifestyle goods like tableware and accessories, and stationery such as postcards and magnets. The shop also features a sake tasting corner, where you can sample one cup at a time from a selection of 30 varieties of sake from across Japan, served via coin-operated dispensers. This is the hot spring facility “Manyo Club”. Enjoy hot spring water transported by tanker trucks from the renowned sources of “Hakone” and “Yugawara” in various facilities, including open-air baths and large communal baths. On the top 8th floor, a free observation footbath is available. On clear days, you can soak your feet while gazing at Mount Fuji. The first floor of Senkyaku Banrai features casual dining spots and ramen shops. With many ramen options featuring seafood unique to Toyosu Market, this area is a must-visit for ramen lovers. The third floor of Senkyaku Banrai is a food court. Enjoy a diverse menu featuring rice bowls and sushi made with fresh seafood, as well as hamburgers, udon, soba, tempura, and more. Let’s visit the seafood wholesale market at Toyosu Market. Relocated from Tsukiji Market in 2018, Toyosu Market features state-of-the-art facilities and a visitor route. You can observe the early morning tuna auction and enjoy fresh seafood at the market’s restaurants. This is the viewing area of the central wholesale market. If you come early in the morning, you can watch the live auction of tuna and other seafood. The early morning tuna auction was shown on a monitor. Next time I come, I want to get up early and watch the auction live. This section provides directions from Haneda Airport to Shijo-mae Station on the Yurikamome Line.
