Our resident Japan transport fan introduces what’s new at Hiroshima Station!

I’m in Hiroshima now and look at this. Look at this. Look at that. I’m a transport fan and let me tell you why the station renewal is so exciting. Hiroshima station underwent huge changes that was completed on August 3rd and after 100 years of service, the trams now run directly into the station. The station went from looking like this to this. And a number of improvements have been made. The Hiroshima trams were already pretty cool because Hiroshima has the largest tram network in Japan. It provides the easiest route to the Peace Park and even connects to Miaima. Now, on top of that, they’ve made six improvements to the station and tram network itself. The transfer from the Jer ticket gates to the trams now takes only about 30 seconds. In a first Japan, the street car comes right into the second floor of the station building. All the tram lines were rerouted for them to enter the station beautifully. As you can see here, this rerouting also resulted in saving 4 minutes going between the station and the peace park. 4 minutes. There new signs that make it easier to know where each tram is going. Finally, alongside a new station hotel, a section for food and shopping opened called Minamoa, which has beautiful terraces to see the new atrium. Share this with the transport fan in your
