She Gave Birth in Fire?! The Goddess Inside Mt. Fuji #mtfuji #fujisan

Her name is Konohanasakuya-hime.
In Japanese, her name means “the princess like a blossom blooming on a tree.” She has long been described as beautiful and
delicate, like the fleeting cherry blossoms. But she is more than just a beautiful figure—
She is the guardian goddess of Mount Fuji. Mount Fuji is a volcano that has
erupted many times throughout history. Even today, it is carefully
monitored for signs of activity. Volcanoes are wild and
unpredictable forces of nature— they spew fire, reshape landscapes,
and sometimes bring destruction. Ancient people felt the presence
of the divine in such power. And they believed a goddess with gentle strength
and quiet resolve resided within Mount Fuji. One day, she fell in love with a god who descended
from the heavens and soon became pregnant. But that god cast doubt on her.
“Is this truly my child?” Without shedding a tear, she set
her birthing hut ablaze and said: “If this child is truly divine, he will
be born safely, even through the fire.” Through the raging flames, she
gave birth to three children. By trusting in life, and in herself,
she revealed her quiet strength. For this, she came to be worshipped
as a symbol of both fire and life. And even now, she is believed to dwell
within Mount Fuji as a living deity. Her story is a symbol of beauty and strength— A woman who holds quiet determination
within her graceful form. She is the goddess of Mount Fuji:
Konohanasakuya-hime.

She gave birth in fire—Mt. Fuji’s goddess is real, and her legend is wild
