BMW R1300 GS Adventure | A Welshman’s Ride Through Chiba 🇯🇵

Hey, everyone, welcome back to the channel. Today, I’ve been invited to ride with Neil. Neil has been telling me for quite some time. He’s got some lovely little courses that he likes to go to in Chiba. Now, as you would have seen on many of my episodes already. Chiba is very close to Tokyo. It only takes us about 45 minutes or an hour to get here. Today’s ride. We’re going to be riding with the three of us, and, he’s then going to take me, through the, roads that he likes to ride early in the morning. During the weekends here in the summer. 26 degrees today, middle of June. Weather is fantastic. Skies are blue. So, really looking forward to this. And possibly I could be also meeting up with Mike. After Neil’s ride. Mike has contacted me as well as, was like. Hey Arch ! How about we, meet up for a burger mate ?? So he’s going to take me to a burger place. So also looking forward to that as well. So thanks for tuning into this one and I hope you enjoy this episode. See you later. inaudible oh don’t show how untechnical I am Yeah Neil is like….. He can’t plug anything in because he never does it by himself. He always goes traveling with other people. We just follows them And so I’ve just educated Neil here on how Information Technology works. So he’ll be good for the next 20 years. I’m not gonna to put that in the video another video on the old kind of, that wouldn’t be nice I can’t put that in the video. I’m going to be ok for the next 10 minutes then I will forget again Okay. You don’t need to do that on the turn in a corner. I’m just saying that, I mean, he might just be me. I like your tires, by the way. accredited trainer Neil giving us advice “Don’t do that in corners” Not that, just that in corners It’s a beast. How many ccs it, is the Ducati ? Oh come. On. 12. 13. 13. Probably 13. Anywhere between 12 or 13, it’s a lot of CC’s I believe it could be at 1200. I believe maybe 12 hundred. Hang On, Hang On Have we agreed we’re leaving? Yeah, let’s go !!! does anyone need to go to the toilet or anything ? How old do I look? Seriously………….very old ? My prostate is telling me I might need to go to the toilet. “Do you need to go to the toilet” ???? Right. And we’re off. Just met up with Tiago. He’s on the fabulous looking Ducati. And Neil’s up front. Neil is the leader for today. Tiago has got new tires so we will have to take it easy Of course. Of course. That’s perfectly fine He needs to rub the tires in, understood ! Go ! I just came here because of the nice view. Yeah. I’ve always seen a bit of a tourist in you. It’s my softer side. Yes, your feminine side. Neil. Sorry. Your feminine side. Well, it’s something side. This is beautiful, mate. And basically Chiba is sand, so there’s loads and loads of you’ll find like open quarries and stuff. they just get the sand from Chiba But look at. It’s just a lovely. It’s gorgeous mate. Yeah. I’ve never stopped here. I’ve been up here because I think. I’ve gone past there a few times. I thought like, wouldn’t it be nice? Because as long as Tiago is still on his bike, you thought maybe you should stop here, just in case. You didn’t hear that Tiago, Yeah. So, Neil, Haneda organizes once or twice a year. A training camp. Just behind here There’s a there is an offroad school. Adventure school ! Yeah, it’s just just behind here. Wow. All right, so Neil’s got the Tech Sevens so we can hear him whenever he’s walking I am guessing because I just bought them They might be still new ? Mind you, so are the SIDI’s they are also noisy like this Oh really? Oh the SIDI’s they are horrendously noisy as well Yeah. It’s gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. It’s gorgeous. This is Geoff’s strap Yeah yeah, yeah. No I’m just happy you came out and joined us today Tiago So Chiba. I adore Chiba, but summertime. It’s brutal. Yes, yes. You need to get up. Higher elevation in the summer. Like around Mt. Fuji. Yeah. Arch knows as well how good Yamanashi is and stuff. Yeah. But in the summertime, this place is super hot. Yeah, you’re walking around in constant sweat. You’re just a constant buff. Yeah I carry fresh Tee Shirts in the back. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But as soon as you get into the mountains, it’s the best country. It’s way more dense. I think. We might generate more heat. Is that is that it? Yeah. In the winter we can be naked and happy Yes. Polar bears. Polar bears. Okay, guys, let me get ready I need to setup the camera one second before you bugger off again. Just need to take our time down this, little road here, because, Tiago’s just got, brand new tires on he’s bike to make sure he has a moment to scrub them in. He’s got off road tires. Block tires on. It’s always nice to tag along with someone who’s created the route. Because I’ve just come back through there with some of the roads that Neil took us. Never been there, all new to me…. This is a gorgeous Neil. This is a great route, mate. If you’re watching this, we are really enjoying this bendy windy through the bushland. back through some of the cities. So little towns. I guess they are. Yeah, It’s amazing. I’m not sure if it’s Neil’s course or he got it from someone else, but, Yeah, this is great. Having a blast here this morning. Saturday morning. Left and right, then left. then right. Continue. That’s with Google Maps. You have to press continue at each stop I guess, I need to check that out how you can skip waypoints by default, on google maps It’s fun. Oh. It’s amazing. It’s a great route ! Did you create this ? I’ve been here before. Yeah. It’s lovely. It’s just a fun route. And it’s not many cars and it’s amazing. It’s just interesting. I do like those glasses. Which brand are those? I think Revo. They’re nice. They’re nice. You look like you get. Enough to cover you. Good. Good for bike riding and they are Photochromic. Yes. Like this. This is also Photochromic you know. Photochromic. Yeah. So basic. The tunnels and all that is amazing. It’s within seconds it changes. Ah, that Seven Eleven you meant Neil now I know. Yes. Yes yes yes yes. Very nice, very nice. Very Nice Very Good. You got your indicator on there. I’ll go through the, We’ll go both go through the AQUA LINE and then I’m going to go. Right. And then you’ll just follow it left. No problem, sir. Alright then follow the Welshman. Cheers Fella ! Take care of yourself mate ! Tiago ! A pleasure to meet you mate ! So we just separated our ways, Neil’s heading back to Tokyo. He is going to be on his way. I’m going to go meet Mike. It’s going to take me about 40 minutes. To go to the destination where I’m going to go meet Mike. So, it’s getting quite congested here as well. I’m gonna be on my way. To be continued…….

  1. Chiba (Boso) really has nice roads to enjoy, doesn’t it? And no other cars! Actually, it may be better than Hakone/Izu. The fun you had was felt on the screen. The name of Wales reminded me of my motorbike ride from London to Cardiff castle back in 1980‘s.
    Thanks for the nice vid.

  2. Neil is quite a character. 😂 I feel so bad that if I can't wake up at 5, I can't make the most of the day. I gave myself heat exhaustion the other day and nearly fainted and threw up after a 3 hour ride that ended at 1pm. Those roads are just the kind I like. I have barely ridden at all in Chiba, though. Thanks for sharing your rides and your banter with us.

  3. Now I understand where you rode with Neil and Tiago (his Ducati Multistrada V4S is a 1260 monster at near 170 horses). I should explore that route myself few places looked very familiar! Awesome video Arch!
I didn’t know you snapped a short video clip of me at that 7/11 in Ootaki. Ok with that!

  4. It’s always nice seeing you ride with mates Arch, I don’t have any friends that actually ride…. It’s great that Ben does now and hopefully Mira soon too! 😊
