Day Trip to Rural Tokyo, 40 minutes from Shinjuku☘️ │ Chofu │Jindaiji Temple │Gegege no Kitaro│Vlog

Hello, it’s MY and Mii. We’ve been busy every day. Hoping for some peace and relaxation, we visite Jindaiji Temple in Chofu today. The extraordinary atmosphere, away from the city, already lift our spirits. There is a waterwheel museum, but unfortunately, it’s closed today. Jindaiji Temple is about a 40-minute train and bus ride from Shinjuku. It’s hard to believe we’re in Tokyo. At the entrance to the temple, we are greeted by stone statues of Daikokuten, Ebisu, and a dragon and tiger. The dragon and tiger are incredibly large and impressive. Ebisu is the god of fishing and business, while Daikokuten is the god of bountiful harvests and wealth, making them two of the Seven Gods of Fortune. Here’s a map of the Jindaiji temple grounds. Wow, we’re really looking forward to it! 😊 There are lots of votive plaques on display. May your wishes come true! 🙏🏻 Now, let’s head to Jindaiji Temple! It’s a soba restaurant with an impressive raccoon figurine. Such a cute expression… Unfortunately, it is closed, so we walk around admiring the beautiful exterior. We arrive at Jindaiji Temple. The sound of drums echo throughout the temple grounds. At Jindaiji Temple, a kindling is placed in the center of the incense burner’s ashes, allowing each visitor to drop one stick of incense through the net. The historic architecture captivate us. Having worshiped, we return to the approach to the temple. Today, we arrived early to eat Jindaiji’s specialty soba noodles, but we were so focused on taking videos that we ended up with a long line. 😅 Maybe the line will thin out with time? So, we decide to head to another destination first. We find Fudo Falls. The sound of the flowing water is soothing. Our destination is about a 30-minute walk from Jindaiji Temple. We walk along, admiring the scenery. We arrive! Tenjin-dori Shopping Street. Chofu City is famous as the second hometown of Shigeru Mizuki, the author of “GeGeGe no Kitaro.” The adorable Kitaro welcoming us at the entrance to the shopping street is adorable! There is also a nice soba restaurant. We’re curious, but we’ll hold off for now. There it is! Kitaro Chaya! A relaxed-looking Nezumi-Otoko and Kitaro greet us. They seem to have a takeout menu, too. We’ll buy some later! Inside the shop, there are a lot of Kitaro goods for sale. They are all so cute, we can’t decide…there are even some exclusive Kitaro Chaya goods. MY and I are both surprised by these! Apparently, they’re made with sand from the Tottori Sand Dunes! Kitaro songs are playing in the background, immersing me in the world of Kitaro. Oh, this fan is so cute…I want one♥ Apparently, this is a Kitaro fortune slip. It’s a great item to enjoy and take home! Now, we’ll buy some takeout from the ticket machine. We’d looked it up beforehand and wanted to try it, so we’re looking forward to it! It looks like it’s ready! It seems eating and drinking are prohibited inside the shop, so we’ll have it outside. Daisen Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream (JPY ¥400) It’s rich, milky, and just the right amount of sweet—very delicious! Aren’t the Medama Oyaji cookies just adorable? It’s a shame, but I’ll eat it anyway 😋 Having enjoyed so much, we head back to Jindaiji Temple. Oh! There is a Nurikabe too!! We return to Jindaiji Temple, but the soba noodles we were looking forward to are sold out 😭 We give up on the soba and decide to buy some dumplings instead. Mitarashi (JPY ¥140) and Anko (JPY ¥140) They are chewy and delicious. There are carp swimming in the river behind our seat. It is very charming♪ We were reluctant to leave, so we return to the Jindaiji temple grounds. This is a vending machine inside the temple grounds. I love the original Jindaiji design! It is a scorching hot day and I’m very thirsty, so I decide to buy a drink. Green tea is my favorite, after all! The sound of the drums reverberating throughout the temple grounds resonate deeply. There is an Akado (Akado Hall). In Buddhism, the water offered before the Buddha is called “Aka.” It is said that rinsing your hands and mouth with this pure water purifies your body and mind. The daruma wind chimes dripping with water are so cute and beautiful. While walking through the temple grounds, we find a pilgrimage path. The temple grounds are bustling, but there’s no one here. I wonder where it leads? We reach the top! It is a great spot with a panoramic view of Jindaiji Temple and beautiful nature! I’m glad I returned to the temple grounds. I would have regretted not seeing this view. It seems there’s more to it, so we decide to go further. This is apparently a “future capsule” filled with wishes for the future. We see a charming vending machine, but it is a dead end, so I turned back. Wow…the autumn leaves are so beautiful! I’d love to come back during the autumn foliage season. The scenery is like a beautiful painting. I almost forgot I was in Tokyo. I left the temple grounds and explored a bit more. The swaying gourds are so cute… Everything is so picturesque. Wherever we walked, we were able to forget the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a short day trip, but we spent the whole day feeling at peace. We had no idea such a charming and lovely place existed in Tokyo. It seems like you can enjoy different scenery in each season. We will definitely come again. We will continue to bring you beautiful and relaxing journeys.
