Part 1: Sendai

Did you know you can easily do a day trip from Tokyo to Sendai?
Just over an hour away from Tokyo via Shinkansen, Sendai is the largest city in the northern Tohoku region of Japan and offers a plethora of fun activities, delicious foods, and historical sites for visitors!

🍖Beef tongue: One of Sendai’s local delicacies, there are many restaurants that specialize in beef tongue!
🏯Sendai Castle Ruins: Take a bus up to the Sendai/Aoba Castle Ruins to get a panoramic view of the city, and to learn about the area’s history as a samurai stronghold.
🫛Zunda Shake: Get a taste for the local culture by trying a famous Zunda Shake, made from green beans called zunda, similar to edamame. Don’t be fooled though, it’s sweet and delicious!
🧺”Morning” Market: Head to the “morning” market in downtown Sendai (which is actually open all day) and eat locally caught fresh fish, mussels, and more!
