Must Try Warabimochi from Gion Komori in Kyoto, Japan | #mochi #kyotofood #kyototravel

You have to try this if you’re in Kyoto. Located in the Gillon district, Gon Kumari is a famous dessert spot known for their wabi mochi. My husband and I arrived on a Wednesday around 2 p.m. and were able to get seats immediately. We ordered two flavors of their Wabi mochi. The regular one covered in kinakaco flour and the green tea one. Both came with a black sugar syrup that you pour on top before eating. The Wabi mochi here was amazing. Perfectly not too sweet, and the texture was what I would imagine if you combined regular mochi and jelly together. I really like the bitterness of the green tea one, but my favorite was the Kinakaco waab emmoji as I love the roasted nutty flavor. This was one of my favorite Kyoto desserts. Definitely add this place to your itinerary.

I’m still craving the warabimochi from Gion Komori! I’ve heard that this place can get quite busy so I was very happy that we were able to get seats immediately mid afternoon. This was one of my favorite desserts that I had during my last Japan trip and I hope I can come back one day to eat more warabimochi!!⁣
