2days in IZU【Atami,Ito,Shimoda】
From my home in Tokyo toward Atami This time I booked a place to stay in Ito About a two-and-a-half-hour drive My favorite drive route with ocean views Happy to be back in Shizuoka in summer after so long A weekday evening, no traffic jams, smooth sailing A pleasant drive One of the reasons for this trip is tonight’s Atami Fireworks Festival. The waves look relatively calm (or so it seems!). The town is coming into view! We’ve arrived in Ito~~~ The retro-nostalgic inn we’ll be staying at this time The view from the room is perfect⭐︎ Off to the Atami Fireworks Festival! Traveling from Ito to Atami by train Arrived in Atami from Ito in about 25 minutes The Atami Fireworks Festival is held several times a year, so it’s not too crowded ☺︎ It’s a weekday during summer vacation, so you can stroll around this leisurely Got beer at the liquor store! Picked up some fresh whitebait to go at a passing izakaya! It’s gradually getting darker Walking through Atami town, heading to the seaside venue♩ Got a skirt steak skewer at a food stall along the way The food stalls at the venue are packed! Waiting on the beach until showtime ☺︎ Spread out a sheet on the beach to get ready for the show A night with a beautiful moon It started~!! Huge cheers!! The fireworks scene is a bit long, but enjoy the summer~! The moon illuminating the fireworks is lovely The finale came in a flash! It was incredibly moving On to the next destination After the fireworks, we headed to the sushi place we’d reserved for a revisit This octopus was so fresh and incredibly delicious! We asked for the chef’s recommended selection of ingredients. The chef buys local fish daily at the market—every piece was truly delicious. Finished with my favorite eel and cucumber ♡ We quietly returned to our lodging for the night☺︎ The retro inn is adorable Games you rarely get to see these days Checked out and headed to a cafe♩ My favorite coffee shop I found last time A wonderful atmosphere of a pure Showa retro coffee shop Locals and tourists alike were enjoying their morning sets I only meant to get coffee, but this lineup was irresistible… Homemade rich soft serve and my favorite firm retro pudding♡ My husband got a coffee float Happiness from the morning ♡ Along the river in Ito, feeling the essence of summer Heading for an unmissable eel lunch when in Shizuoka Reserved before opening and got in for the first seating A prime seat where you can watch them being grilled right before your eyes I love eel so much I’d want it for my last meal This is my third visit to my favorite unagi restaurant. My heart flutters the moment I lift the lid of the box ♡ Beautiful… It was amazing!!! Nice unagi feast! Thank you for the meal!!! Ate so much, so off to explore Ito The riverside path is charming and perfect for a stroll Lots of retro-cute buildings Ito Beach bustling with families during summer vacation Since we had no plans for the second day, we decided to head to Shimoda ♩ About an hour and a half from Ito to Shimoda A pleasant drive along the coast The color of the sea gradually changed The sun was too strong, so we rented a parasol The beach was packed with people enjoying themselves! The seawater was colder than I expected, but it felt great! The chair I happened to have in the car came in handy. We enjoyed ourselves for about two hours before leaving the beach. Summer in Shizuoka is peaceful and soothing. Plenty of ocean and greenery ⭐︎ I always feel like I’m gonna get car sick here… lol Did a little shopping at the outlet mall just before closing, and ended with a bath The day-trip hot spring next to Gotemba Outlet, which I’ve visited several times♨️ Feeling refreshed, we headed home. Two days of thoroughly enjoying summer in Shizuoka⭐︎
