DIY Arashiyama Tour from Kyoto

I really wanted to take a photo at the Arashiamyama Bamboo Forest without the crowd. So, the best strategy was to go early. I managed to arrive before 8:00 a.m. And while there were already a few visitors, it was still possible to get a clear shot with the help of another solo traveler. So, solo traveler tip: Find a fellow solo traveler and you can help each other capture good photos. After the bamboo forest, I started looking for a shop serving breakfast since I hadn’t eaten yet. Once I had a quick meal, I headed to the shop where I booked my Hakama rental and photo shoot through Cl. If you’re planning to rent a kimono or Hakama, Arashiamyama is a great place to do it since everything is nearby. There’s the bamboo forest, temples, rickshaw rides, and even a scenic riverside. Wearing my hakama, I roamed around the area and even walked along the river. You can also visit the monkey park Iwatyama. Explore Tenriuji Temple or cross the bridge for stunning views. Arashyama is full of charming spots perfect for photos and quiet moments. There’s so many things you can do here, so I honestly think it deserves a full day and not just a quick side trip. After the photo shoot, I wandered through the different shops selling a variety of Japanese dishes. I was craving for hot curry for lunch and I ended up at small shop near the station called Arashiyama Curry. Of course, I couldn’t leave without having dessert, so I treated myself to a matcha sweet treat afterward. The rain got stronger in the afternoon and I originally planned to ride the Sagano Scenic Railway. Since it was summer and the scenery wouldn’t be as breathtaking compared to autumn or spring, I decided to skip it for now. But if you’re visiting in the right season, please, I highly recommend it. I saw a lot of good videos on autumn and spring. You can book your Sagano Scenic Railway tickets on Cluke and don’t forget to use my discount code destinations clue for discounts.
