First, Nintoku’s Tomb in Osaka. It’s one of the largest burial mounds in the world and full of history. But here’s the catch—you can’t actually see the shape from the ground. From above, it’s incredible, like a massive green island surrounded by a moat. On-site? You’ll mostly see tall fences and dense trees.
Second, Niseko in Hokkaido. Famous for world-class powder snow, it’s a dream for skiers. But it’s also one of Japan’s priciest resorts—hotels, restaurants, and lift passes can cost two to three times more than other ski areas. And many say it’s lost much of its authentic Japanese vibe due to heavy reliance on foreign tourism.
