Tossa de Mar, España – WALKING TOUR | En 70 minutos TE ENAMORARÁS de este pueblo MEDITERRÁNEO!
Hello everyone, dear friends! 🤗 I’m happy to welcome you to Tossa de Mar, a true treasure that many still don’t know about! Tossa de Mar is a coastal town in the province of Girona, in Catalonia. It is located between cliffs, coves, and pine forests, and is part of the Costa Brava. 🌊🌲 Today is Saturday, but if there are so many people it’s because this town is beautiful. Don’t miss its castle on the beach, you’ll fall in love! 📍 This is the Chapel of Our Lady of Socorro. It was built in 1593 by Antoni Caixa, a ship captain and merchant, as a thank you to the Virgin Mary who saved him from a shipwreck. The history of Tossa dates back to ancient times, when it was called Turissa and the Romans built a village whose remains can still be seen today. In the Middle Ages, Tossa was attacked by pirates, which motivated it to be fortified by building a wall to protect it. Soon we’ll see the iconic wall that has surrounded the old town since the 13th century. This bird is called the swallow and is very typical of the Mediterranean. For centuries, the local economy was based on fishing, vineyards, and cork. Friends, from here we can already see the walled castle of Tossa de Mar. Let’s explore the castle and walk within its imposing walls, because it’s a true feast for the eyes! But first, let me show you the seafront, a vibrant and lively place that you’ll love. Our plan is to get a beautiful perspective of the town and then head towards the castle via the beach! 👌✨ Beyond the walls, Tossa de Mar retains an authentic Mediterranean character and aesthetic. 🌞 But tourists who want to enjoy more than just the beach and gastronomy can also visit the Almond Village! This villa is one of the most important Romanesque sites in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula . 🏛️ The Roman Villa of the Almonds was a luxurious agricultural residence from the Roman period, whose name comes from the place where it was discovered, an almond field . 🌳 The villa was divided into two main areas: Pars Urbana (residential area) 🏠 and Pars Rústica (work area). 🌾 The owner family lived in the residential area; mosaics, columns, decorated walls and private baths are still preserved, which reflect their high standard of living. ✨ The work area was used for agricultural tasks, such as the production of wine and oil. 🌾🍇 The kitchens, warehouses, grape presses and servants’ quarters were located there. The visit is free! ✅✨👈 Objects such as pottery, coins, and sculptures were found in the town, with the most notable figure being a boy with a goose, displayed in the Municipal Museum. 🏺 We are about to reach the perspective we have been longing for, where the famous statue of Minerva is located.✨ Created by the Catalan sculptor Frederic Marès, Minerva symbolizes wisdom, strategy, and protection, reflecting the historical identity of Tossa de Mar and its Roman legacy. Located between Platja del Reig and the Mar Menuda, the statue offers a beautiful view of the Mediterranean and has become a reference point for locals and tourists. 📍 Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, military strategy, the arts, justice, and skill. ✨😍✨ Now we will cross the beach to reach the castle and Vila Vella, the charming old town of Tossa de Mar. This beach has been awarded the Blue Flag, a distinction that guarantees the quality of the water, safety and services, and is considered an international seal of excellence. 💙 This is Platja Gran and is the main beach of Tossa, from here, you get one of the most iconic postcards of the Costa Brava. 🏰 We are approaching the only medieval walled enclosure that is preserved on the entire Catalan coast. As you will remember, it was built to protect the town from pirate attacks in the Middle Ages. 🏴☠️ The circular towers that flank the wall served as defense and surveillance. The wall preserves seven towers, three of them very visible: the Torre d’en Joanàs, the Torre de las Horas and the Torre d’es Codolar. It’s not really a castle, but rather a watchtower. However, its soaring shape and three towers led people to call it a castle over time. From here, the view of the castle silhouetted against the sea and golden sand is a sight straight out of a fairy tale. I’m happy to tell you that the best is yet to come; we’re going up to the castle and exploring Vila Vella! ✨😍👌 These rocks, the calm sea, and the mountains in the background are what characterize the Costa Brava, and people love it! 💘 We’re now climbing the Torre d’en Joanàs, one of the most prominent watchtowers on the medieval wall. Tourist boats called “golondrinas” (golondrinas), like the bird I mentioned at the beginning, arrive at the beach. They connect Tossa de Mar with other towns on the Costa Brava or take short routes to nearby, quiet coves. The Catalan flag flies from the tower, and from the top, we’ll enjoy spectacular views. In the 1950s, the cinema industry discovered Tossa de Mar as a natural setting. The film “Pandora and the Flying Dutchman,” starring Ava Gardner, was filmed here in 1951. The arrival of Hollywood attracted press, tourists, and curious onlookers, and since then, the town has been an international tourist destination. That’s why they paid tribute to Ava Gardner by placing a statue of her at the Vila Vella viewpoint. The statue depicts Gardner looking out to sea, evoking the romantic, cinematic atmosphere of the place. The statue stands on a pedestal overlooking the beach and the wall, and is one of the most photographed spots in Tossa de Mar. This climb takes us to the highest point in Vila Vella! Now we’ll see the old cannons that protected Tossa de Mar from attacks by sea. 💣 They are placed right on the strategic points of the wall, from where the entire coast was dominated. To our right are the ruins of the old Gothic church of Sant Vicenç, which was the town’s main temple until the 18th century. Today only the ruins remain, but you can still see the side walls, buttresses, and some architectural details. Friends, we continue climbing towards the Tossa de Mar lighthouse, a key point that has protected sailors on this coast for years! 🎇 This path deserves a like just for the climb! 👍💖👍 It’s not that hard to climb at 9! 👍🤣 In addition to its original function as a guide for sailors, the lighthouse is currently also a maritime and cultural interpretation center. 🌊🐟 This building hosts exhibitions and activities related to maritime history, navigation, and the natural environment of the Costa Brava. More than a lighthouse used exclusively for signaling lights, it is a space to learn about Tossa’s relationship with the sea, its fishing, coastal protection, and marine biodiversity. As you can see, Tossa is a dream place, and we still have two magical places left that you shouldn’t miss… ✨✨✨ The train is coming! Do you think we’ll fit? 😨 It almost ran over us! 😲 We are now about 50 meters above sea level! 🌊 🔔 Now that we are going down, subscribe so you don’t miss our channel and continue exploring incredible places like Tossa de Mar together. 🙌🎁 This path looks like something out of Alice in Wonderland, full of surprising corners and enchanted nature. You’ll see! 🌺🌼🌸 These stairs are made of local stone, resistant and well worked, which has withstood centuries of use. All we need is a white rabbit to guide us to the world of wonders! 🌸🐰🌺🍯☕ 📍 This is Cala Es Codolar! It can be accessed on foot from the center of Tossa. 🌴 One of the magical spots I was referring to is this dizzying walk along the narrow walls! ✨✨ This whole experience is free! ✅✨ And now we come to the second magical corner: a window in the wall that opens onto a balcony suspended facing the sea, and from where unforgettable photos are born. And here they go for those who are not subscribed! ❌🤣 📍 Over here we have the sculpture called: Fisherman’s Wife. It represents a woman with open arms, welcoming the fisherman back from the sea, full of hope and excitement. 💖 This way we return to the town, which at this time is full of life! In general, in Spain people quite enjoy spending time outdoors, in the fresh air. 🌞 Socializing in public spaces, having a drink in a bar, walking, chatting in the street is a way of life. Meal, work, and leisure schedules allow you to go out in the evening, when the sun goes down, and stay out until late. Gastronomy is another attraction, and the “cim i tomba” (fisherman’s stew) is traditional here. It’s a fisherman’s stew made with potatoes, fresh fish, garlic, paprika, olive oil, and aioli. Originally from the boats, it was prepared with whatever fishermen had on hand. It’s very common for old leftover dishes to become a luxury these days! Everyone is waiting to take their Instagram photo! You should know that around Tossa there are small idyllic beaches where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Other coves like Cala Bona or Cala Pola are ideal for snorkeling and are surrounded by forest. 🌴 We have been to Cala Pola and it is a little paradise! Friends, climbing the walls at sunset is also a fantastic plan! ✨ The golden light envelops everything and the landscape becomes magical: ✨✨✨✨ Have you already been to Tossa? I would like to know your opinion! 👀👂 This dog looks like our “Snoopy”, but he did not come today, he is saving himself for the next walk! 💖🦊 What goes up, must come down! We will soon reach an area that you surely know! 😉 Indeed! We are in the Chapel of Our Lady of Socorro! 🙏 Friends, if you’ve made it this far, I can only congratulate you for having successfully completed another walk! 🎉👏👏👏✨ I hope the good vibes of this place reach you through the screen! ✨🤗✨ As a last detail, I would like to tell you about the swallow birds we mentioned before. 💝 These birds are an endearing icon, because their presence means that summer has arrived in the Mediterranean. They are small and agile, known for their fast and acrobatic flight. They are famous for their long migrations, as they spend the winter in warm regions and return in spring to breed in temperate climates. They build their nests with mud and saliva, placing them under cornices, walls, and eaves of houses; it is very common to see them in towns like Tossa de Mar. And at sunset, you will see the swallows hunting mosquitoes! 👍🦟 It’s an animal that, for me, evokes positive feelings of summer and the typical sounds of Mediterranean villages. 🥰🌊🌞 Does the same happen to you with any other animal? Share it with us in the comments, we always read you! 🤓 Dear friends, the sad moment of farewell has arrived! 😭 Thank you very much for joining us on this pleasant afternoon in Tossa de Mar! 🤗💝🙌✨ See you on the next walk with a new destination! 🌞 See you soon! 💖💐😚🍇🏰🏴☠️💣🌺🐰✅🍻🦟🌴

First bro
Spain is the country of civilization, the country of history, the country of beauty. When we look at Spain, I see it as better than America and Canada because it is very beautiful in terms of construction and nature. The future of man is tourism, man’s health, diet, tourism, rest, and not thinking too much about the love of this world, especially money. Excessive thinking is the basis of the diseases that spread. You should exercise, walk, and stay away from white sugar and white salt.
I will come to Espana this October. But I prefer Sitges than Tossa de mar😂
