Pacific League: Orix 0-1 Seibu (16th, Kyocera Dome Osaka)

Orix missed their winning streak. In stark contrast to the game on the 15th, they were shutout game by Seibu, 0-1. Their batting struggled against starter Yoza. They only managed one hit through the fourth inning. They created a chance in the fifth with runners on second and third and one out, but Tonmiya and Osato struck out. Their submarine right-hander was left untouched until the sixth inning, and was silenced by the opposing team’s relief pitching in the closing stages. This was their 15th shutout loss of the season. Starter Espinoza gave up one run in six runs, marking his sixth loss. “I managed to keep the number of runs allowed to a minimum, and I wasn’t bad at pitching tenaciously,” he said of the game, but it was their sixth consecutive winless game since their third win on July 1st.
