Bionic Jack Racing’s Ai Miura scored her best result of the season by finishing 14th in the first race of the second round at Fuji. Kyojo Cup regulars Miki Onaga and Rio Shimono also collected valuable experience ahead of the third round of the season later this month at the same venue.
In the second round of the 2025 Japanese F4, 2020 Kyojo Cup champion Ai Miura claimed her best result of the season in a red-flagged race one at Fuji Speedway. Also racing that weekend were 2022 Kyojo Cup champion Miki Onaga and Kyojo Cup race winner Rio Shimono, who took valuable experience in a challenging weekend.
Race 1
In race one, while Itsuki Sato qualified on pole, Miura qualified a solid 15th, whilst Onaga was 18th and Shimono was 28th. As Sato led the way at the start, the red flag was deployed before the end of the opening lap due to Masana Muto’s car spilling oil on the track, which forced race control to halt the session as the track required to be cleaned up.
Despite the red flag, the timer did not stop, meaning the restart commenced with around four minutes left on the clock. While most of the field went cleanly through the opening corners, a collision between Tadakazu Kojima, Masayuki Ueda and Makio Saito forced the safety car to come out again.
As the race ended under safety car conditions, Sato won ahead of Kotaro Shimbara and Ryo Shirasaki, whilst in the Independent’s class, “Dragon” won ahead of Nobuhiro Imada and “Kentaro”. Even though one full lap of green flag racing wasn’t completed, Miura was able to gain one position to finish 14th, Onaga held on to 18th, whereas Shimono didn’t start the race.
As five out of 14 laps were completed, half points were awarded as 75% of the race wasn’t completed.
Race 2
Sato was on pole once again for race two, while Onaga started 19th, Miura 22nd and Shimono 28th. At the start, Sato lost the lead to Shimbara, while Onaga overtook Muto to get up into 18th, as Miura ended the opening lap in 20th.
Up front, Sato took the lead back from Shimbara the following lap at Turn 2, while Onaga overtook Yuzuki Miura to rise up to 17th and Ai Miura made her way past Sena Yamamoto for 19th.
As Sato pulled away, Shimbara began defending from Ryo Shirasaki, who he kept at bay in the early stages. Behind them, Fuji Kishi spun at Dunlop corner, promoting Onaga to 16th, while Miura fell to 22nd.
While the order at the front remained unchanged, in the mid-pack Onaga fell to 19th with three laps to go, whereas Miura gained five positions in six laps to move up to 17th.
In the end, Sato won ahead of Shimbara and Shirasaki, while Miura held on to 17th, three places ahead of Onaga in 20th, and Shimono took the chequered flag a lowly 24th. In the Independent’s class, “Dragon” took his third win of the season ahead of Imada and Ueda.
