A Few Days In Okinawa πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅

[Music] Louis works. Today we’re going to the blue cave. And I’m not sure if this is a beach or a cave or if it’s like both combined, but we’re going to find out when we get there. So, come along with us. So, this is the beach, but it’s more like a beach without sand. a rocky beach. You know how like when you go to a beach and there’s like sand in the water and sand outside the water and it’s kind of soft and kind of gets in between your feet and stuff like that. Well, here they have nothing but rocks. Nothing but rocks. So, if you ever come to Blue Cave, buy some water shoes or buy some fins and it’s probably a very good place to snorkel. Probably not a good place to really walk around that much, but um watch your step and make sure you don’t slip because it’s wet and the rocks are really slippery. Sea urchins right here. And from what I understand is if they sting you, they’re really poisonous. So that’s why I’ve got these shoes so I don’t get stung by a sea urchin if I step on them. Look how clear this water is. [Music] How far did y’all go diving? How deep? Probably like 20 ft. 20 ft. Uh, see anything cool in there? Oh, yeah. Yeah. That’s some crazy fish. Oh, man. You said they’re beautiful. Oh, yeah. If you can see, this part is not even in the ocean. It’s just uh kind of rocks. that’s kind of on the shore, but you can see all of these fish in here. And it’s so beautiful how they are just living kind of in this small part of I don’t know, small part of the beach. [Music] Oh man, that is so cool. Wow. All right, let me let me see this. You got any words to say before you drink that venom? You just got to go for it, man. Cheers. [Music] How’s it taste? Not bad. Yeah. I’m about to be really bougie and eat some Wagyu. Wagyu steak. Let’s see. This is the first time I’ve used a fork since I’ I’ve been here. Very tender, very moist. This is good. Well, I really enjoyed the steak. It was uh cooked really well chicken and they had a little bit of salt on the side and some garlic as well. And so when you kind of put them together, kind of brings the flavor of the meat out really well. But I’m still a little hungry. But I’m not buying anything else here cuz it’s kind of expensive here. I might stop at a convenience store or something. So, I’m at a convenience store called Lawson’s, and I just kind of want to show you some of the things that they have here. And I noticed that a lot of like your 7-Elevens and convenience stores. They have another convenience store called Family Mart. They all kind of have some of similar things there that you can have. I just think it’s so cool. They have just like things that you normally would not have in a convenience store in America. They have like these readymade meals and it’s got like dumplings in it and sushi and it’s just you see a lot of things like this, a lot of products with like uh with like rice and meat inside of it. And then they’ve got some readymade items as well and whole meals. that actually are pretty filling. I’ve had a couple of couple of rice balls here and I’ve found that they’re really filling and I don’t have to eat a lot of food after I eat it. It almost kind of just ruins my appetite for the day. So, I have stopped eating those rice balls and just eating out somewhere else. And then like they’ve got like a whole selection of like ice cream over here. and uh just different kind of delicacies and uh frozen fruit and stuff like that. I think it’s really neat, you know. Right here they’ve got like some chicken fish. Got pieces of fish right here and chicken. So, I’m going to buy this at Lawson for my kids. And this will be one of the things that we’ll test out and see how it tastes. [Music] [Music] going to meet you all. We got the goamas. So, I’m currently at Shuri Castle and there is a lot to see here. A lot to see. A lot of uh architecture here. While I’m here, just enjoy all of the views that you’re going to be able to see. A lot of stairs to walk up right here. [Music] A few years ago, I had the opportunity to go to London, England. And actually, I saw a lot of England, more than just London, but I got to see a lot of the architecture and a lot of the buildings that were built, you know, over a thousand years ago, castles and cathedrals and stuff like that. And there’s just something about old architecture that is so intriguing. I think it’s just the fact that how does a structure stay intact for so long? To me, that just amazes me considering the houses we build often times don’t even last 100 years. But you’ve got a huge castle that has lasted for thousands of years. So find it so intriguing and hope you enjoy seeing all the things that you’ll get to see right now. Where are we at? Okay, we are right here. We’re right here. It literally says you are here. I’m looking at this path where it would have taken us if we gone down that way. Seems like every spot I go to here, there’s always some kind of breathtaking view that you’ll find here in Okinawa, Japan from Yeah. All of the places we’ve been have have been like that. And this is such a neat thing to see right here. What do you think so far? It’s pretty cool. Pretty cool. Yeah. Huh. Oh, yeah. Go ahead and pull that out. Oh, wow. Four tickets. Look at that. That’s a nice view right there, man. Oh. Wow, man. That is such a nice sunset. Mhm. Very nice. Did you know? You can see the sunset at the entrance of [Music] Oh, sunset. How much? What time? I got a few. My watch says that the sunset is 6:39. 7:23. This is why I wish I could speak Japanese and because I feel like there would be so much more I would get from the experience if I knew and understood more Japanese. And I really would love to find different ways to engage with different cultures. And obviously I don’t have I don’t have enough time to learn another language, but if I could, I definitely would. So apparently the castle, the actual castle got burnt a few years ago. Um I don’t know if I’m really interested in looking at it because it seems like a lot of it is kind of being renewed and I want to see older things. Oh, and look, it’s already closing time. I just found out. So, I guess we won’t be able to see that today. We couldn’t even see it anyway because uh construction, they’re constructing it right now and it’s closed. So, um unfortunately, we won’t get to see the castle, but we’ll get to see how it looks like around the castle. And that’s to me, that’s kind of enough. Yeah. Oh, snakes in there. Yeah. Oh, okay. All right. Well, you know what? I think I want to avoid those snakes. I think I want to avoid those snakes then. You You don’t mind? No, I’m going to avoid the snakes. You want to see? Oh, no. No snakes. You sure? Yeah, I’m sure. No snakes. Okay. Okay. Have you been Are you new here or you been? Am I new here? Oh, yeah. I’m new here. Yes. Yeah. Have you seen any snakes? I have not seen any snakes now. Yeah. In Okinawa. Ok. No, I haven’t seen any snakes in Okinawa. Yeah. They say in rural areas there are snakes. There are. They have the haboo snake. Ah, yeah. I heard that’s pretty a pretty big snake around here. Yeah. And if you get bit by it once, then you get the antidote, but you can’t come back on the island because of the poison. Cuz the antidote doesn’t work the second time. But they they’re not in a city. They’re probably rural areas, isn’t it? Probably probably in rural areas. Yeah. But maybe those snakes with the photos might be dangerous, too. Be careful. I think this way will be the exit, I think. Yeah. It’s not really clear what is. That’s the return route. So, probably that way. Yep. All the best. Yes. Have a good time. Thank you. Thank you. So, according to this sign, the haboo snake may be around here, but I see that there’s plenty of cats. So, maybe the cats kind of keep them at bay. I’m not going to lie, with all these trees that kind of look like snakes, I wouldn’t be surprised if a snake was kind of hiding in these trees. Let me go all the way to the top to see how this looks like. Man, this is an observation deck, I guess, in the castle area or whatever. But this is such another good view. Look at all those buildings over there. And this is this is beautiful. Very beautiful thing. [Music] So, I’m in an area that is covered by all trees and really not much sunlight coming through here. So, this is a very common space besides the fact that there’s snake sounds all around here. So, I’m probably going to get out here. I’m not going to stay here super long. I don’t want to get bit by haboo snake or whatever it’s called. I’m leaving. So, if y’all can see these uh Japanese people right here, I got a chance to talk to them a little bit. Uh it’s one of those situations again where like I wish I knew how to speak Japanese so I can kind of converse with them cuz I’m pretty sure they have a lot of knowledge. They seem to be older maybe about their 707s and 80s seem to be really really sweet but unfortunately because of that language barrier I couldn’t really communicate with them and they wanted to tell me something but couldn’t couldn’t really do it and uh my phone is not working right now. [Music] I think I found a church right by the castle right here. If y’all can see right over there, that’s the castle that we went to look at earlier. pizza. A lot of people here. This must be a good place. So, right now they are literally making the sushi right in front of us. And everything looks so fresh right now. And my mouth is starting to water just by seeing all of this fresh food right here. You got to get the Vietnamese off. Oh. So, they have these sushi boats right here and looks like they just kind of pile it up with sushi. I can’t wait to eat it. So, I ordered the chhaten or chitan roll and this guy beside me, he suggested that I order. He said he gets it here all the time. So, I’m looking forward to tasting this and see how good it is. You know a restaurant is good when it’s as full as this. It’s always good to see a lot of people eating. So, he’s gonna tell me a little history about this restaurant. Put the camera up there. We can show in New York, New Orleans, and California. And he was making sushi. And that’s a picture of him from Good Morning America making sushi. He’s also a golfer. That’s him with Tiger was like 16. Him hanging out with Danny Glover. That’s that baseball was when the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series back in 1981. Try to get all the players started doing that one. There’s pictures with Yoshi and Daryl Strawberry over there. Remember Daryl Strawberry with the Dodgers? That’s Aubono, the professional sumo wrestler from Hawaii. The one with Yokazuna. He was the first Yokazuna was the the sumo the sumo. Oh, sumo wrestler. Okay. He was the first Yokazuna in Japan, I think, from America. So, he’s been here a few times. You know what’s crazy? I did not notice all these pictures until you said something. All over, right? So, these are all the people that he’s met. Professional athletes like the Indianapolis Colts here, right? I mean, they got stuff signed from them and got Franco Harris, I think, up here signed something for him. Got a bunch of Oh, man. This is going to make the experience even much better cuz I that kind of gives context to all of the pictures. I didn’t even know. I just saw the pictures, but I didn’t know that was that’s him. Yeah, it’s your side. You made Stevie Wonder. Did you do Stevie Wonder? He made sushi for Stevie Wonder. He made sushi for Stevie Wonder. Wow. That is so amazing. That is That is so neat. I think I think that has made this sushi experience even more memorable, just knowing those things. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. He’s a living legend, that’s for sure. All right, y’all. So, I’m about to have my first bite of Shatan. Am I saying it right? Chhatan roll. Chhatan roll. I’m going to see how it tastes. This guy shrimp at avocado, cream cheese, and cucumber, I think. Yeah. So, he recommended this. So, I I trust that he has a lot of taste. Blame it on me. Blame it on this. A good choice. This is a good toy. Good. Really good. If you like wasabi, it’s the green section of wasabi. You don’t have I don’t do wasabi. Now, what’s his name? Yoshi. Yoshi just told me the owner of the restaurant said for me to eat the wasabi. So, I’m going to listen to him and I’m going to eat it. Training. He said this is my training right here. So, I’m I’m getting I’m getting trained by world class sushi. sushi making. So, I got to listen to him. Put it in the Put it in here. Yeah, there you go. Just mix it in real good. It’ll dissipate. Okay. So, I’m going to You’ll have that flavor. Put a small piece of wasabi in the soy sauce and let it dissipate. There you go. Let’s see. Is that what you’re supposed to Man, I can’t believe how old I look on this camera. That’s why I don’t have a I think I think the camera makes you makes me look older. So, I don’t have a mirror in my my apartment. This is I don’t care. I’m still going to eat it. I don’t care. [Music] [Laughter] So, I was just told that now I’m now no longer in preschool. I finally graduated because I put wasabi sauce in my my sushi dipping sauce. This man himself just told me all of these things. Thank you. Thank you, sir. Yes, sir. I can’t. This place just ruined me. It won’t be the same. So, I’m here at Zampa Lighthouse. I think I’m saying it right. Zampa Lighthouse. Here to do a 5K. And uh there’s a really good scene of the ocean and some rocks. I’m looking forward to doing this 5K. Kind of get my blood pumping for the day. [Music] Typhoon Rage Maji. I think that’s how you say it. From the distant past, mother she brought blessings and happiness to people and sometimes shakes the earth and strikes people. That is what typhoons are. At 8:40 a.m. on October 6th, 1990, the energy of typhoon number 21 became a massive wave that engulfed the camp zampa area. At that time, a large rock of 94t and 85t 50T was moved. Do not underestimate the power of mother nature. Yuman Town Hall. It’s a little interesting right there. [Music] Run at your your own pace. Leisurely leisurely pace. Enjoy the view. Um, I’m going to start out here in the front. Everybody wants to pace me. I’m not going to go fast. I promise. It’s going to be a nice slow jog. So, I guess they got the fire department for us in case somebody passed out. Blue seal is a a big deal around here. And so they’ve got the Blue Seal truck waiting for all the people who had ice cream. And let me tell you, I don’t believe that’s an incident. I believe somebody told them that we’re going to be here and they got the ice cream truck here and the firefighters here, which is real nice. I’m sure some people will love ice cream. But that is my 5K today to get it started. Thumbs up for the 5K. Thumbs up. I do love this view right here. Nice clear view of the ocean. Just ocean for miles, man. Ocean for miles. You want people to follow you. Got to take it to the edge. Let’s go. Hey, this man over here, he’s trying to get me killed, man. He’s trying to get me killed. Thank you. Let’s see if we’ll thank him. You think we’ll thank him, guys? Okay, this is a little bit safer. I’ll give you that. Yeah, I ain’t going there. This is coming. No, I’mma climb. See? See where he’s at? Let me Let me show you where this man is at. See? See right here? This man was this close to the ass. Say something. Comment below if you want Louis to live a little. So, this man said, “Comment below if you want Louis to live a little.” But let’s see. Let’s see how this view looks. And he’s probably pretty close to the edge, but I’m not going close to the edge. I’m not I don’t play them games. Who is Look where this man is at and look where the water is at. You’re right there. Come here. Nah, bro. No, I’m good. I am going to give this man my camera if he’s willing. No. And I can see a second hand. Camera. Take the camera, Greg. You’re going to miss out. Sorry. Take the camera on this beautiful Look, I can see the water from right here. Look at that. Right there. Well, guys, here. And they showed them the view. You know how to use iPhone, right? Don’t drop my phone, bro. I’m sorry. Lewis couldn’t bring you all the way to the edge, so I will. Look how beautiful this is. Don’t drop my phone, man. He said don’t drop his phone. He’s scared. Look at that. I don’t want to jump. I want to jump in there so bad. I don’t know if y’all can see it, but there uh there’s some fishes in there all over. So, see see guys, he’s limiting you. on the experience. They can they can follow you on your channel. I forgot. Stay diligent. Stay diligent. Peace out. I’m the kind of person that I weigh risk over reward. And the risk greatly outweigh the reward. But I’m glad there’s somebody with me who’s willing to take that risk that I’m unwilling to take. That’s so cool. Papa. [Music] I’ve got blueberry pancakes with some kind of cheese sauce on it. And this looks so good. I can’t wait to eat this. I don’t even know what I don’t even know which which hand to hold the fork and the knife in. [Music] This is good. So, I just got through eating the pancakes and had two and they were they were really big, but they’re really light and fluffy. So, I’m not full, but I’m satisfied. And it’s probably one of the best pancakes that I’ve had in a very long time. So, if you come to Japan, you should try some of those pancakes. I think it’s the way that they do their pancakes. I don’t know what they do to them, but um they don’t really sit on your stomach hard. If you like what you saw today, subscribe and tap that notification bell. Until next time, stay diligent. 1. like your sharingπŸ™Œ, but Okinawa does not belong to Japan. Its real name is Ryukyu. The 1945 Potsdam Declaration clearly stipulated that Japan's territory is limited to the four main islands, and Ryukyu is not part of Japan's legal territory. The historical significance behind the name "Okinawa" is Japan's invasion and massacre of the Ryukyu Islands
