Ultimate OSAKA Japan Shopping Guide: Video Games, Anime, Clothes, Nintendo, Pokemon & Gift Haul ποΈ
Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Hey guys, John here. Just want to give a quick shout out for our second channel, Kanto House. There we do a lot of home vlogs, tech content. I do a lot of guides on the Nintendo Switch, too, as well as house DIY setups, and Sarah also posts her cooking shorts on there. Please give us a subscribe. We’re trying to grow the second channel. And yeah, thanks again for watching. Express to number. All right, I’m back in Nepon Bashi. Um, I split off from Sarah. She’s going to do her own shopping and I’m going to do my own video game shopping here cuz we’re near Denden Town, which is a lot of anime and video game merch, PC shops, some gacha ponds, some food. All right, I found it. There’s a giant Mario right outside. Look at this. It’s so tall. I love Suraya. Second floor is all figures. A lot of them are used, but really good for ignition. Oh, look at all these scales. Wow. Of course, we got model kits. Ton of model kits here, too. Fact, probably half of this floor is model kits. Third floor has a lot of plushies, lot of like stationery, small merch. A lot of good used plushies here, too. First floor. All video games. I love this floor. Oh, even know the Game Boy is on display. O definitely upcharged because they’re getting popular and getting sold out everywhere. But that’s where you can find some. Also sealed box used games, too. Oh, it’s so sick seeing all these CRTs. Look at all these used good conditions. N64s. Some games behind glasses. All these Game Boy games are here sealed. Well, they’re all used, but you can actually pick up any of the copies here. Just ask the staff to cut the thing for you. There’s also some in free floating packages, too. Ooh, Game Boy Manual. And also, some of these games, right? They’re complete in box edition, too. And if you’re into collecting PokΓ©mon games, look, they have almost all the games here already. Some are samples. They need the front. Some are complete with new battery. It’s also crazy. At the door they have any crane game machine. 100 yen. You can pick up any of these. You can win one. A didn’t grab anything. Sad. It’s a cool noise though. Going down the street. There’s actually a lot of these lucky bags. Oh, this guy outlet store. Get a lucky bag. You don’t know what the heck you’re going to get. So, it’s a lot of plushies. Oh, wait. They got some games. I always love browsing. A lot of Switches. And a lot of these are you play Rigid Free. Just got to make sure they have English support whether look it up online. Found three pretty good picks. Okami Platform Exitate Combo and then Dust Diver. Some games that have been on my list. Found 8,700 haul. The Suga Outlet store. There’s also a Cotto Buukia here which is an official maker. Oh, but look at this. They have Pikachu vending machine. It’s so cute. Oh my gosh. Small selection. Gibling merch as well, which is always nice to see. Oh my gosh. That’s the Atlas merch. That’s a Persona 3, Persona 5. A metaphor. Oh my gosh. Got Street Fighter over here, too. Got some Squeenex stuff, too. Got some Near Automa. Got some Final Fantasy. Got some PlayStation merch here with the lights, the mugs. Look at these keychains. Got some PlayStation keychains on the other store. But look at this. They have an anime. It’s multiple floors all the way up. It’s great for general anime merch. But look, they have Washing Bond and Melon Books. It’s awesome. It’s another braided secondhand thrift shop for all sorts of things. Washing barn. There are a ton of figures here and all really good used conditions. Like this completing box racks and racks and racks. So many figures. I would actually recommend coming to Washington to buy figures for presents and stuff cuz they’re just in such good prices in used conditions. You’ll also find a lot of just random game shops, TCG shops, Crane games. And look, even down there, they have a Taito game station arcade right here in Tenten Town. Well, here are some newer consoles, Switch and PS5 that they sell here. Joycon, Pro Controllers, the But look, they have my Steam Cory controller I’ve been wanting. This is one on my list. And it’s in white. That’s awesome. This was used, but this is in flawless condition. And I got a bit of a discount, too. That’s awesome. All right. And just down the street is another Suruga specialty store. So, I’m going to go see what video games I can find. And look, there’s already a ton of video games. Oh my gosh, guys. All the way from PSP, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, VA, and then you even have your old retro cartridges too in the glass cases. Mega Drive, 3DS. Dude, I love this store. Oh my god, it’s a gamer’s dream. even family computer and amiios. I just look at this. This is so beautiful. Some of these are complete boxes too. Got some games in the glass cases too. Game Boy controllers games boxes. You got used controllers and condition N64 game. Got Xbox down there. Also got PS VA PSPs in box too. Dang. We got some consoles right there. Look at that. The original PS1, PS3 here. Oh my gosh, man. If you own Pokemon, they literally have a whole section just for Pokemon games. every single DS, 3DS, and even some Game Boy games in here. Look at that. Oh, they got all the Ruby Sapphire. Oh, that’s so cool. Got three Switch games, the two Pokemon Omega Sapphire and Ruby and a Nintendo 64 controller for about $150 USD. So worth. All right, the last shop I’m going to check out is Mandaraka. Multiple floors of all sorts of goods. They’re pretty good thrift shop as well. custom part is that these large cabinet shelves filled with just figures and scales and amazing stuff. That’s really cool. Of course, a ton of mini plushies and figures and prizes, too. Honestly, I could spend a lot of time just browsing in here just at everything. Japanese manga. There’s a lot of manga here, too. A lot of times they’re like complete sets, too, which is amazing. I will say they probably have one of the best Blu-ray collections out there cuz if you’re into collecting Japanese Blu-rays, dude, their box sets are in phenomenal condition. They also have a lot of like Japanese stuff, too. And if you’re into soundtracks, I mean, they got anime OSTs by the CDs here. You can just browse to your heart’s content. I think they might even have some records in the back over there, too. Video game wise, it’s kind of hit or miss. They’re not as much as like I’ve seen in Suraya or other game shops, but there’s a small section dedicated to it, too. Although, I will say if you do find some hits, dude, they’re usually cheaper than any of the other stores I’ve seen. Like, this Alpha Sappi is cheaper here, and this Zelda is cheaper here. Dang it. Might go with two really good used finds here. K Story Plus and Live Alive. Pretty cheap prices. All right, got two Switch games off my bucket list for under $40 USD. All right, so that was my haul here at the Denden Town here in Osaka. I would say I came out with a lot of Switch games, a couple of 3DS games, and a lot of video game accessories. I probably would shop here if you’re thinking of coming here and you’re staying in Asaka. Anyways, I do think the prices are more reasonable than Tokyo, and the selection is better than like smaller cities like Kyoto or Nagoya. And honestly, I do like this more than Akiabara. I feel like there’s a lot less crowds, streets are more wide, and you know, you don’t feel like you’re cramped all the time or getting ripped off. So, I would say overall this is an amazing place to go retro video game hunting or even like current video game hunting for like PS5 and Switch games. So, would highly recommend coming here. All right, here is the final haul. That is everything I bought in just about 3 to four hours today going through each store. All right, we are going to go to Uniqlo Shinsi Bashi and it’s supposed to be like a more unique like Osaka themed Unilo. Um, so we’re just going to go there, shop around while John does his own thing. Oh, they have this one. That’s pretty. [Music] I just got a sweatshirt and I designed it with like an O unique Osaka stamp and it they said that it’ll take about 12 hours to complete. So, I’ll probably just come back the next day and pick it up. They have the Ruby collection. My gosh. [Music] I’m going to get this purse. I just got the Totoro coin purse from this little Gibli store in Parkco Mall. Honestly, this is such a good place cuz like they have the photo spot and it’s not even a long line at all. And they also have like really unique items inside in New Looks like they have a sale going on. Have a water bottle filling station. They have so many snacks and food. That’s so cute. Got little taco yakis and okonomiyaki. Also got this one. That’s like the Japan creator set. [Music] I got it. It was only took an hour and it’s so cute. All right, just got back to the Airbnb. Here is the haul. First, we have this Lego Creator Japan set. I thought it was really cute. And then at Uniqlo got this cute little cardigan and some socks. Also got these jeans. They’re like stretchy waist. So comfy. Um got some AISM tank tops cuz that is very cooling in the summer. Then I also got this AISM t-shirt that’s kind of cropped. And I have different colors of these already, but this mock neck shirt is like really comfortable. And then they had this color on sale. It’s like a navy, so got that. I got one of the unique Osaka t-shirts that they had. So this one is the Shinsi Bashi Street with the little girl. I thought that was really cute. Also got another one that is just of the castle. Mrs. Osaka. And then what I was most excited for is the custom like studio that they have where you can customize t-shirts or bags, sweatshirts, tote um tote bags. And I chose the sweatshirt. I got a size medium just so that it’ll be a little bit oversized. And then they give you an iPad. And then you can select the design you want. Um, you can also do embroidered, but I think that one takes a little longer. So, I chose the print. It only took them an hour to do this. So, basically, they give you the sweatshirt with a tag on it. You bring it to check out um and then come back an hour later and it is all printed. I thought this was so cute. The design and the colors, you can see it’s just like different Osaka Japan themed. It does say to just wash it in cold water and do not tumble dry. Finally, I did get this bag at the Gibli store. This one was at the Perco Mall, and they had so many different things that I didn’t see at like other stores. It even has like a total clasp. There’s a strap that you can attach and it’ll become a cross body purse. The strap is inside. Even has this cute pattern inside, too. And then there’s like one little pocket here for like separation. So I’m glad I filmed this. All right. Hello everyone. We are in Osaka. We are heading to thea area um where there’s a lot of shops like Nintendo Osaka and PokΓ©mon Center Osaka. We’re also trying to grab some lunch as well. So yeah, let’s see where the shopping takes us. the okonomoyaki babe. No, I didn’t. It was someone. This is okonomoyaki somewhere. We found it on the next elevator. It’s basically like across from across the South building. And we’re going to find the okonomiyaki restaurant here at the Ozaki station. Where are all these malls with the restaurant floors? It’s like kind of a maze to find it, but it’s right here. Okay. It’s a All right, let’s go in. Two people. Here’s the menu in English. Choice of okamoyaki. All different styles. They have negi yaki. This is interesting. Which looks like a pancake with the stuff on top. Oh, they have yaki. So, we got to get a yaki so they got some grilled meats, individual dishes, but we’re not here for that stuff. I’m going to try the Osaka special pork beef tender deep fried beef noodles. That sounds straight up our style. Then for the soba, probably get the yuzu gin soba cuz that looks good right there with the egg and the beef. All right, we have our yaki soba. Yeah, it has like a fried egg and then beef tendon. Ooh. And that’s the Osaka style okomi right there. Wow. So they already cook it for us over there. So this is the restaurant where they already cook it in a good and then they present it to you on a sizzling plate so it keeps it hot. So they It’s not one of those where you make it yourself and they make it in front of you. But this is what we could find on short it is. Want to give it a shot? All right. Going to get a little cut. Oh, it’s sizzling. You hear the sizzle. Wow. This one has noodles. Has noodles in it. Beef and beef tender. Yeah, they call this special Osaka style. Oh, it is sizzly. It’s very sizzly. Has a lot of meat in it. Actually looks really good. And I love the portion size. Like here is my hand for reference, guys. And that’s how big it is. Just going to give it a try. That one’s hot. Yeah. Very saucy. A lot of different touch to it. It looks so good. Honestly, better than anything we could find in the States for sure. Noodle sh like too cabbagey. Mhm. Yeah. And if you guys don’t know the difference, Osaka style, they mix everything into the batter and then they fry and then they put sauce and toppings on top. Whereas Hiroshima style, it’s more like layered like stuffed oza on top of each other and then they flip it and then they serve it to you. Yeah, this is definitely all mixed together. Want to get the yakisoba? You want to break the yolk? Break the yolk. There we go. A little bit of a soft yolk over some yaki soba to try. How is it? How’s the noodle texture with everything? I like it. Nice. This is a good portion, too. Mhm. All right, I’m getting involved with okonoyaki now. But that’s still so good. I feel in general, you can’t go wrong with food in Osaka cuz it’s such a food city. And this restaurant is rated like a 2.9 on Google Maps and a 3.3 or 03 on Tamong. And even though Japan’s ratings are different, right? Like a three out of five. It’s actually their average food. That’s how they rate it, dude. Honestly, you can find such good food anywhere you go. Really happy with this. We’re going to eat up and finish lunch now. And on to the next spot. We are now on the 13th floor. This is where all the shops, Nintendo, PokΓ©mon, and also Capcom. They also have a cafe here and a little shop as well. Small shop because they have a cafe in the back. But in case you want more Capcom merch, they also have it here, which is awesome. I love these Street Fighter 6 eye mask. So funny. All these cool looking like grapp Oh, it’s a mirror. It’s a pocket mirror. That would have been the Monster Hunter cafe that we would have went to. This would have been their menu. And here’s a lot of Monster Hunter merch style. Look, we got the One Piece store. Oh my gosh. Mugiada store. So cool. Look at him. Luffy. He’s real. Luff is real. One Piece is real. Yo, they have a giant One Piece volume one with the comic strips recreated in there. That’s so cool. Oh, so it’s a marine cap. H I wish I could wear hats, though. Oh my gosh. So cool. Look at all this artwork. That’s so awesome. They even have it on the wall, bro. Just sit here and admire it. That’s cute. They have the devil fruit in a coin purse. Oh my gosh, it’s kawaii. Very kawaii. Osaka. Wow. Here’s the official Osaka store. It looks fairly decent. Pretty big. Sadly, the t-shirt only goes up to XL, but they do have some merch. It looks like snack Cutlery. Oh my god, there are more of the controller gosh pondons here. I might roll a bit more since I still have some coins on me. Nice. I rolled two. I got the SNES buttons and I got a Famcom buttons one. Nice. If you don’t find yourself going to any other Nintendo store, then I would say a Sonic Store is a good amount of merch too. Zelda. You got a lot of Mario plushies and stuff. A lot of stuff showcased on the walls too. Got the Animal Crossing section here. All their cute HomeGoods that we shown off before. Oh, so cute. Allowing demos of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD remake over there with the kids. These are awesome. I might get one of these. These are like a box art set of um the games but in like collectible form. So like this or you could get it in like tin form which has like candies in there. But look, it’s like all the OG like game covers and stuff, but it’s gotcha though. Of course, more video games here. They also got video games here in Japanese, too. And the biggest benefit I believe it’s coming in stores is actually seeing the Nintendo Switch online exclusive controllers, which you can see in person. These are modern USBC equivalents used to be meant to do Switch or Switch 2, I believe, and play the emulators via NSO. Guys, we got to convince Sarah to buy the Animal Crossing pajama set. This is it. This might be our last time we’re in a Nintendo store for a few years. Look, this is Sarah. This is Sarah’s color. It’s her day when we have to leave Japan. This is her face. Mhm. Cuz we She wants a kitchen timer. Well, I want a kitchen timer because I think it’s small we can bring home. I think it’s also cute, too. How many themed kitchen timers are there in the world? You know what I mean? All right. Got my Nintendo Osaka haul. It was about a hundred something dollars USD. Oh, sweet. This is just like the Tokyo location where they have a photo spot for Nintendo Osaka. That’s awesome. We should take a photo here. There you go. Ready? Do Mario jump. Two 3 2 1. All right. And right next door is Pokemon Center of Saka. You can’t miss it. It’s just right coming out of the Nintendo store. This is a little bit crowded right now cuz it’s a weekend. It’s a decent size store as well. Got all the plushy corner right here. Everyone shopping for all the plushies and stuff. Oh, they even got some figures right there. Oh, that’s cute. These pillows. Pokemon concurge pillows. Oh, look. They even got Pikachu matcha pillow. I’ve only had room for so many of these plushies. That’s interesting kitchen wear stuff, too. Definitely every Pokemon Center I’ve come to always has like some interesting variety. The mugs. Even the mugs here are a bit different from the ones that I saw. Like a whole other side to the park to the center right here. Little more mini goods. Some more homegoods. The line is I know that line goes all the way over there from there. Oh man, it’s awesome. Cryons here. This just bang through the wall. And we got some more stationery, pens, socks, merch here. Basically, all the small merch is on this side. And the Bside label stickers are over there. Pokemon onen series they got. Look, it’s like a little Onen bath with the Pokemon in it. So cute. What a d. Wow, it’s a Gengar wall light. Wow, that’s very cute. That’ll be nice for the kids. Yeah. Look what they have. They have an onen towel. Wow. Wo. Isn’t that really cool? I feel like that’s usable, too. Yeah. Look at that. Oh, that’s so cute. That’s so Oh, I want one now. I want one. Oh, look. Even the onen bag is kind of cute. Oh, do they have a shirt? No, it’s only six. Gengar walllight. You got the Gengar wall light. Mhm. I got a sincha plushy right here is the matcha Pokemon. And then I have a towel. I always really like the onen towel. I think we can use it. I wish that they had this design on a t-shirt. I know. Oh, that’s so cute. Pokemon cafe Pikachu plush right there. And then they also have some gacha ponds and some of the arcade games back there after you pay. All right, that was our PokΓ©mon Center. 9,360 yen. Nice. And we are done shopping here at the Omea Station. Nintendo and PokΓ©mon Center merch. Hope you guys enjoy this vlog and I’ll catch you guys in the next one. [Music]
