Rare Japanese Instant Noodles: Our Tokyo to Chiba Hunt & Taste Test
Out of our comfort zone… I am Chem I am Phil We’re new to video making… you’ll see oh there it is take 2 So today’s plan is to track down some noodles that we cannot buy in Tokyo. We’re going to be traveling to Chiba, which is over in the east. So hopefully we can find them. we’ve seen them on TV, but never around here. we are on the JR Sobu line (yellow line) It connects west Tokyo with Chiba city in
Chiba prefecture Chiba (station) Our journey takes about an hour Sobu line trains stop at every stop most trains in the area have between 10-15 cars We’ve arrived in Chiba.
But something to eat first. Hungry? Yeah! I’m hungry alright! “Peko-peko” (means I’m hungry in Japanese) Outside JR Chiba Station we decide on “donburi” for lunch sashimi is simply raw fish sushi is raw fish on a little rice donburi is raw fish on a bed of rice good? good! the owl is actually a police box noodle hunting begins low profile mode engaged Chem has her parachute no noodles “zannen” nevermind next supermarket this is number 2 no no possible… around here hmm doesn’t look like no no supermarket number 3 the one we’re looking for is called Aladdin Aladdin it’s kind of a fried noodle type.
Arabian oh Arabian noodles old buildings around here We’ve tried five places and still haven’t found any We’re hunting around for another supermarket somewhere. might take a while Yeah, I think so. Because no idea where’s supermarket. yeah, we don’t know where where sells them. We’re completely unprepared it’s okay ha ha – monorail passes overhead number six it’s not that… it’s not that… it’s not that… it’s not that… it has a white packet – Sumimasen (excuse me) anything on the other side? noooo noooo.unfortunately noooouu Rare Japanese Noodle Hunters! Chem breaks out the Japanese Chem finds another type she’s interested in are you having that one? ye, souvenir… if we can’t find any other things that’s not the one we’re looking for (jedi mind trick) but Chem’s interested next supermarket looks like minions SEARCH mode initiated noodles (desperation creeps in) beer o’clock (now ye talkin’) happy whistling guy – must have found Aladdin noodles… Minecraft noodles… noodles! noodles x3 …… Chem! gasp – 20th Century Foxy (dunno felt right ) that’s it! we found them hahaha (disguised relief) we should buy five or …… single package haha I can’t believe it – we couldn’t film in all stores that’s about 10 shops we went into.
finally got them. so trial 2 packs. yeah we’ll have 2 hahahahahahaha. ooh yay mission done we catch the Sobu line back to Tokyo daaaaaaaaa a few days later finally, we will try.

OK try I missed hahaha 15 love 15 all it’s a bit noisy. stop!! let’s cook cook let’s cook so 400 mils of water in total 200 another 200 okay then need to boil first so, start cooking seaweed sauce the KING OK after 1 minute, then need to break it ha ha chopsticks fighting we shouldn’t do that should we that’s not polite. not polite shouldn’t play with chopsticks. OK now Oh, Phil you are doing well want some help? um, yes please almost. almost there. ye! sauce in. sauce in then mix seaweed. seaweed “aonori” (in japanese) so this is actually soul food in Chiba and Ibaragi I think we have yakisoba (fried noodles)
