This is our memory of Shuri or Shurijo Castle in Naha, Okinawa Japan. It is a popular UNESCO Heritage Site. We visited this castle during their traditional New Year’s Day celebration while we were living in Okinawa. It was called “Chohai-Okishi”. The event was very colorful. This 600 year old castle is a popular tourist attraction in Naha and was once the castle of the Ryukyu Kingdom. It was sad to hear the news that the castle got caught on fire.
