The Reds squad flew out from Hong Kong to embark on the second leg of their pre-season tour in Asia.

Prior to stepping off the plane, several players donned a happi coat, which is a traditional garment in Japan that is often worn during festivals and celebrations.

The happi coat has a history with Liverpool, having been worn by none other than The Beatles when they were flown to Japan by Japan Airlines – the official airline partner of the Reds’ 2025 pre-season tour – almost 60 years ago.

And Virgil van Dijk, Wataru Endo, Ibrahima Konate, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo and Kostas Tsimikas followed in the footsteps of George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
