The Mazda Motor Corporation has opened a new research and development office, the ‘Mazda R&D Centre Tokyo (MRT)’ in Azabudai Hills, Tokyo, to further establish its presence in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. The Mazda Tokyo Office will also relocate to the new facility.

The MRT will play a key role in strengthening Mazda’s software development capabilities, enabling greater agility as the industry shifts toward “intelligent vehicles”.  The new facility will provide a collaborative working environment for software engineers, support enhanced recruitment activities and promote co-creation with universities, companies and research institutions throughout the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. The Tokyo Office will expand its existing functions – which include public relations, corporate liaison, and sales – by strengthening its marketing capabilities to support the transformation of Mazda’s domestic business.

Noriyuki Takimura, Executive Officer in charge of Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Liaison, Sustainability, and Tokyo metropolitan area, said, “At Mazda, we believe people are our most important asset. We are committed to creating an environment where every employee can thrive. This new initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to unlock the full potential of our workforce. The Azabudai business park has long been a diplomatic and cultural hub, and as it continues to evolve, we aim to do the same – delivering uplifting experiences from our new base and remaining the brand of choice for all who engage with Mazda”.
