Visiting here in summer won’t be pleasant, though. #beppu #japan #kyushu
the house of Beepu are these seven hot springs that are too hot to bathe in but are visited for each of their unique characteristics the first five hells are so close to each other you can just walk from one to the other they are Umei Jigoku which is the sea hell popular for its blue color onihibu Jigoku which is said to resemble a shaven monk’s head kamadoo Jigoku which allows guests to drink onsen water oniyama Jigoku which is the steamiest of all the hells and is located inside the crocodile park and Shiraik Jigoku with its milky white waters and very serene atmosphere the last two hells can be accessed by a 20-minute bus ride chinoik Jigoku has this blood red color and Tatsumaki Jigoku is a geyser that erupts every 30 to 40 minutes the cherry on top is the stamp rally which for me is one of the best souvenirs you can take a combined ticket of all the seven hells will cost you 2,400 yen and I highly suggest visiting in the fall and winter allotting at least 3 hours to visit all of them
