[ 4K / Subtitle ] Otaru Japan Walking Tour (June 2025)
I went to Otaru in June, 2025 for a half-day trip. For me, the best part of my Otaru trip was train rides by the sea. Really! I am serious. I just like watching the ocean. Especially from a train. You may skip to the next part. Click items in the ‘Chapters’. For those of you who like this kind of thing, be my guest 🙂 After getting off at Otaru Station, I walked to Funamizaka. I came here because I saw a beautiful photo of Funamizaka overlooking Otaru. But a photo is just a photo. One thing I learned from trips is not to get fooled by photos or videos that are edited. If you don’t have much time to spend in Otaru, I think you can skip this area. This video might help you decide. That’s the whole purpose of this video. I want you to see things as they are. Not edited. Not beautified. I am walking towards the Otaru Canal. It was around 10:00 AM or so. I found a playground. I spend some time here taking photographs. By the way, you can see my photos if you want. There is a link on my channel. I always enjoy watching old houses and buildings. I am near the Otaru Port and the Canal. Can you hear the seagulls? There are many Le TAO shops in Otaru. But I recommend the main store. So do not fall into temptations until then! This is the Otaru Canal. There were lots of Japanese students on a field trip in Otaru. And I think they were taking group photos. The photographer has strong vocal cords for sure. You can ride a boat here and cruise along the Canal. I think this is the main spot for the Otaru Canal trips. You probably saw lots of photos of these buildings. There were some artists (I think) selling their photos/drawings/paintings of the Otaru Canal here. The woman’s negotiation skills just cracked the seller up. I wish I had the skills like that. I never negotiate because I am not good at it. And I don’t like the idea of negotiating. Okay, I am at Sakaimachi. I am gonna walk to Minami-Otaru Station and catch a train for Sapporo there. This street has many shops along the road. Let’s check it out. Can you hear the bell-like sounds? I will show you the source of those sounds soon. Oh Holy Crab! King Crab! I didn’t eat any crabs during this trip. Maybe next time. Like I said, there are many Le TAO shops here. But don’t fall for other shops. That movie ‘Love Letter’ was filmed in Otaru. Some people seemed to visit places in the movie. Now these are the source of the sounds I mentioned. I wanted to get one of these. But no space in my luggage. But I filmed these, so I can watch and hear anytime I want. Ahhhhhhh. So relaxing and soothing. Okay. Careful! This is not the main store! That one is! The one with the bell tower. That’s the Le TAO main store. Good views of Otaru from that bell tower. I’m going there soon. I am going to have cheese cakes in the main shop and walk up to the bell tower. There is the famous music box shop. I’m gonna check out some music boxes there. That clock is also popular here. The steam clock. Hi Steam Clock. hehe. How is it going? I just checked out the music boxes and came outside now. Gonna go to the main LeTAO shop. which is just across the street. But before that, just check out the building one more time. Hey Steam Clock Sir. hehe. How is it going? hehe. (Beavis Voice) I just ate some cheese cakes and drank some tea on the 2nd floor and walk to the 3rd floor. It says ‘3rd floor’ but since it is a bell tower, it is higher than regular 3rd floor. Since there aren’t tall buildings around, from the bell tower, you can have a good vantage point. 360-degree views of Sakaimachi Street The one with the green roof is the music box store. Also, you can’t see it from this video, but the bell is hung in the ceiling. It’s the bell tower duh! It said that I can ring the bell so I did. I always do what I was told to do! oh Mr. Steam Clock! hehe. How’s it hanging? hehe! Well, that’s it. This is my ride back to Sapporo. Always. The best part of my trips. Train rides along the sea. Until next time. Ciao!
