Japan S2E7: Kyoto – Togetsukyō

Kon’nichiwa and welcome back to our Japan adventure. Today we are moving our HQ from Nagano to Nagoya passing again through Tokyo. For the following day we plan a Kyoto tour. After a brief coffee break in Tokyo, we switch to Tokaydo line and in no time we are reaching Nagoya. Just more trains… if it wasn’t enough… The lobby seems to be a scene out of “Lost in Translation”, including the Jazz singer It is time to retire in our room and prepare for tomorrow. This is not our first visit to Kyoto. In Season One we have visited: the amazing Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kiyomizu-dera temple and Ginkaku-ji, the Nijō Castle and finally the Kyoto Gyoen National Garden and the Imperial Gardens. In Season 2 we will add Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and more It is the time to slip into the yukata and rest for tomorrow. The path to the Tenryu-ji Temple has many other temples and shrines, one after the other. We had anything but time, so we decided to continue without visiting the temple’s interior. I’ll do a touch and go over the same path, but this time I’ll be using another camera. It is an Insta360 X3, which does not match at all the colours of the Sony Alpha. This X3 will have to go. I was giving it was giving it enough chances. The second objective of the day is the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. For some reason it is one of the most popular destinations in Kyoto, so be prepared for large crowds. The bamboo forest it is not only very crowded but it is also very dark. Combined with a cloudy day and late in the afternoon, the X3 footage was terrible but I was able to bring up some brightness, later on during editing. It is late, but we can not leave without visiting the Togetsukyō Bridge, a 400 years old landmark.
