Flag carrier Philippine Airlines will reopen direct flights between Manila and Sapporo, Japan starting in November 2025 to expand travel opportunities between the two destinations.

In a statement on Tuesday, July 8, PAL said that from November 24, 2025 to March 27, 2026, travelers will gain direct access between the Philippine capital and the northern part of Japan.

PAL president Richard Nuttall announced the reopening of direct flights from Manila to Sapporo, thus helping strengthen both bilateral relations and cultural ties.

“This route not only provides a convenient travel option for Filipino tourists and overseas workers but also opens doors for Japanese travelers to explore and experience the Philippines’ vibrant culture and warm hospitality,” Nutall said.

PAL will offer non-stop flights to Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday using the Philippine flag carrier’s Airbus A321neo aircraft. The route is set to operate every succeeding winter season from November to March.

Sapporo is known for its world class skiing resorts and annual Snow Festival featuring enormous ice sculptures, along with a wide range of cultural and culinary adventures that are popular tourist draws during the winter season.

At present, PAL offers the largest network of destination points and routes between the Philippines and Japan – with nonstop services to Osaka Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita, including direct flights from Cebu to both Osaka Kansai and Tokyo Narita.

PAL previously operated the Manila-Sapporo-Manila route from December 2018 to March 2020.
