On the 7th, Nippon-Ham held a press conference at ESCON and announced their intention to move their second team home base from their current location in Kamagaya, Chiba to the Sapporo area in Hokkaido by 2030. CBO Hideki Kuriyama commented, “We will create a base in Hokkaido where we can develop players. We need a place where we can truly develop people. We will create the best facility in the world, unmatched anywhere else.”
As a candidate site for relocation, they will prioritize access from ESCON and New Chitose Airport, and aim to relocate to the Sapporo area. At present, they announced that they are exchanging information with Sapporo City, Kitahiroshima City, Eniwa City, Ebetsu City, Chitose City, and Tomakomai City. The relocation destination will be decided through individual discussions with each local government. Project planning and coordination with local governments will be carried out by 2027, with the construction period expected to be around two years, with the aim of opening around 2030. This will be a public-private partnership project in Hokkaido.
The company also released images of the new facility, which will be complete with an open-air main stadium, sub-ground, indoor training facilities and player dormitories, with consideration being given to the development of commercial, residential and accommodation facilities in the surrounding area.
