Chief ministers and premiers aren’t there for the sake and onsens. They know full well that their job is to meet and mingle, to press the flesh, and to put on their game face as their community’s “salesperson in chief”. One suspects, given his druthers, the Chief Minister would have preferred some time out with his husband and their cat after a couple of hectic weeks ahead of the budget.
