Japan Hidden Gems visit to Wakayama

[Music] [Music] i was fascinated by the story of
this temple so I decided to pay it a visit another Japanese hidden
gem tucked away in Wakayama [Music] [Music] this was once a grand temple home
to a towering statue of the Buddha serene whole and timeless until a
fire came and destroyed it [Music] [Music] [Music] they tried to rebuild, hearts open hands willing, but an earthquake struck and what hadn’t been
taken by flames was broken by the ground itself. The resources ran thin so
it was never fully restored and what remained was this single solitary
head. The Buddha’s face calm undisturbed resting peacefully. You might think it’s a symbol
of loss but here people come not to mourn, they come to pray. Students kneel
here before exams. Others leave wishes for love for health… for peace
they can carry back to the world [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] this temple teaches without speaking that not
all beauty needs to be whole. That peace can survive what the world breaks. That even when
dreams collapse what’s left can still hold grace and I pray like so many before me not for
perfection but for strength for clarity for the wisdom to see that what remains is enough that
my life is enough and it’s okay to begin again. You find a way to keep going to keep
inspiring even if you’re not quite whole. [Music]

Exploring the less explored hidden gems in Japan. This temple comprising of only the head of a Bhuddha after it was destroyed by a fire is so beautiful. So much attention to detail in carving this bronze deity. A calming place.
Located in Wakayama is Muryoko-ji temple just a short walk away from Wakayama station.
