Tokyo to Mt. Fuji in a Day: 4 Jaw-Dropping Views You’ll Love

japan is full of amazing sites and attractions from religious shrines and gorgeous temples to city attractions and the famous bowing deer Japan’s got it all in this video I am going outside of Tokyo on a one-day bus tour to see one of their most revered sites Mount Fuji this particular tour stops at four different viewing spots that are just stunning and the spots get better as the tour progresses i am at the mercy of the weather but this day turned out great and I was blessed with beautiful gorgeous views the four stops that are along the way are Kawaguchiko Craft Park Aishi Park an old preserved village and then Arakuryama Shanken Park starting from the Shinjjuku love sculpture I along with many others filled several big buses and caravan to Lake Kawaguchi the first stop before booking the trip I figured the proximity from Tokyo is manageable mount Fuji is located approximately 62 mi southwest of Tokyo making it an easy dayrip destination i thought that the 1 and 12 to 2 hours by bus is doable well it turns out it was more than two hours each way thankfully I met another solo female traveler in the bus who helped alleviate any boredom so pro tip don’t make any dinner reservations that evening in Tokyo many people like me are captivated by Mount Fuji because of its symmetrical cone shape often capped with snow which makes it most photogenic natural wonder it’s also revered in Japanese culture for many centuries many temples and shrines are located around the mountain and it has long been a site for pilgrimage our first stop is Kawaguchi Co Park located by the tranquil shores of Lake Kawaguchi we had to divert from our original itinerary because we had so much traffic from Tokyo so instead of going to the famous Arakuryama Park we had an early lunch break first for the tour we had the option to pre- purchase food i had the wine Japanese beef steak Wagyu while others had the raw salmon this place is also renowned for the famous Japanese cheesecake we had it and it was really good not as dense or sweet as a New York style cheesecake it was fluffier and less sweet [Music] afterward we took a leisurely stroll along the peaceful shoreline of the lake at this time Mount Fuji was starting to emerge there were still quite a bit of clouds but the weather was cooperating [Music] onwards to our second stop we are at Lake Kawaguchi and we are at Oishi Park the uh mountain is in full uh spectacle right now no clouds in the sky pretty awesome just a few minutes away is Oishi Park a lakeside garden famous for its seasonal flowers and jaw-dropping view of Mount Fuji in spring and summer the colors here are unreal the walking paths lined with seasonal flowers create a picturesque landscape that captivate all who visit with a registered world heritage site of Mount Fuji as its backdrop and the equally notable Lake Kawaguchi in the foreground this location is a true wonder of Japan [Music] our stop number three is Saiako Iashi Nosato Nemba iashi nosato is located on the banks of Lake Saiiko we took a stroll through the reconstructed village and marveled at the houses with thatched roofs giving a glimpse into life in Japan in the olden days the village is made up of more than 20 houses that have been converted into shops restaurants museums and galleries [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and now our final stop and the best one of them all is Ara arakuryama Park one of the most iconic views in all of Japan is Arakuryama Shenen Park due to the incredibly busy weekend the bus couldn’t park at the base of the park instead we had to park a half mile away and walk through residential neighborhood it wasn’t so bad really but we knew we had to climb 400 stairs to the top and at the top is the famous view of Chito Pagod with a beautiful Mount Fuji in the background the line for the pagota was very very long and once you got your turn they only gave you a few minutes to take those obligatory shots pro tip there’s a shrine midway to the top do not stop there instead go all the way to the top first then when you go down that’s when you visit the shrine most tours only give a limited duration of time for each location so give yourself that much needed time at the top to ensure you get your muchneeded photos [Music] all in all it was a good tour especially for first timers the traffic was the only downer the huge plus was that Mount Fuji was fully visible i was told that many times it hides behind clouds and that weather can be inclement for more of my Japan travel click the two videos above until next time this is Amy signing off
