The Japan Open Poker Tour (JOPT) 2025 Tokyo #02 is set to take place from 17 to 21 July 2025 in Tokyo’s Takadanobaba district. With a total prize pool of approximately ¥500 million (around $3.3 million USD), the event promises to be a thrilling spectacle for poker enthusiasts from around the world.

Asia’s premier Poker tournament

Originally launched as a modest initiative to promote poker in Japan, JOPT has grown into the largest poker tournament in Asia. Now internationally recognised, the tour attracts both amateur and professional players, offering a diverse range of competitions and a world-class tournament experience.

The Main Event is expected to draw over 4,000 participants, competing for a share of the ¥500 million prize pool. The $3,500 High Roller tournament boasts a ¥60 million (approximately $400,000 USD) prize pool, while the $1,750 High Roller event will award a distinctive stained-glass trophy to its champion.

Takadanobaba, located near Shinjuku, is known for its lively student atmosphere, rich cultural offerings, and excellent accessibility. Visitors can enjoy a wide array of restaurants, arcades, and bars—making it an ideal setting for both players and spectators.

JOPT 2025 grand final

Earlier this year, the JOPT 2025 Grand Final set a new attendance record, welcoming over 50,000 visitors across 12 days. The event featured 127 tournaments and a total prize pool of ¥800 million (approximately $5.3 million USD). Supported by 38 sponsors, including Burger King and BULK HOMME, the Grand Final celebrated community, skill, and entertainment on an unprecedented scale.

To support international guests, the organisers have also prepared an English Entry Guide, offering essential information for tourists and first-time participants.

Praise from global poker icons

Steve O’Dwyer, ranked 15th on the World All-Time Money List, praised the event, “The venue design is beautiful, and the tournament schedule is perfectly crafted. I was impressed by the high level of skill among the dealers. All the participating players are friendly, too, and I think they’ve created a truly comfortable playing environment. With all these conditions in place, it makes you want to come back again and again.”

Michael Acevedo, author of Modern Poker Theory, added, “JOPT has a unique attention to detail, unlike any other tournament, making you feel like you’re the protagonist of an anime. I’ve travelled around the world visiting poker tournaments, but this is the only place where I could have such an experience.”
