This Japanese Town is a Vibe โ๐ป๐ฏ๐ต (Dazaifu Day Trip Vlog)
hey guys from Fukoka Japan where your man is about to head on a day trip Actually an afternoon trip because like usual he’s leaving at late It’s about 2:30 p.m But I’m going to head off on an afternoon trip to a historic town called Desu which is about 40 minutes away from here and apparently like stepping back in time a thousand years so they say And to get there it’s either going to be two trains or one bus But either way it’s going to take about 40 minutes So this station is huge And the bus station is connected to this train station also So I’m in two minds I’m familiar with the trains but I haven’t taken the bus before So it’s kind of like a new experience if I take the bus Don’t even know how that works If I just tap I just jump on a bus or do I need a ticket because it’s it’s not really in Fukoka It’s like another place It’s like another city or another town or something So uh I don’t know But there’s the sign for the bus terminal there Hakata bus terminal I guess I’ll go and check it out I’ll see what the deal is with the buses guys Here we go Bus day So they’re city buses and expressway buses cuz I’m assuming mine would be the expressway but I have no idea No idea what the system is Like do you just turn up and jump on the bus like this um yeah this is all within this kind of area So I think I need Oh here That is the place that I’m going Platform 11 They’ve got it So it’s got its own thing That means up the stairs Yeah it’s got its own uh or is that there it’s got like pink pink uh Yeah platform 11 What does that mean oh here Platform 11 Yeah it’s kind of confusing Yeah it’s got its own pink like uh walkway there to take you there Okay that’s good So this place must be popular Apparently it’s a very serene town around here They’re currently Oh this is like the queue for it This is the queue Ah it goes all the way to here So I don’t know Well I think I can just jump on the bus without getting a ticket I don’t know Hi Hello Do I need to buy a ticket
uh no You can pay one of these cards Do you have
Oh yeah I have Hakatak and this one Yeah I just
tap tap your card Both getting on and 700 and
zu Yes Okay Thank you very much Okay Apparently the buses are every 20 minutes So hopefully I get on the next one This is how many people are waiting in the queue I don’t know if that’s more than a bus load or not I guess I’m going to find out soon Okay we’re boarding now So that was only about 3 minutes wait I think I got lucky Oh wait
Oh no And oh okay I think she said four more people I think I got lucky Super lucky I would have to wait another 20 minutes literally So yeah let’s see if I can get a window seat I guess not I’m I’m probably going to have to sit next to someone Yeah So I just realized that when I got on the bus I didn’t tap my card or pay any money or anything And I was kind of worried about that But they’ve just made an announcement that apparently you pay when you get off You put the money in the slot or you tap your card when you get off So
that is the system How do I pay
okay just tap this
Well that was easy A nice comfortable 40minute bus ride I like how well organized everything is in Japan You know if I was in another country trying to take a bus from A to B it would be chaos But in Japan everything’s organized Everything’s made simple And now I’m here in the historic town of Desau I believe this is the main shopping area here There’s loads of street food around Ice cream different snacks and all that What is it i don’t know Oh that’s um
um
um
mochi
Moi
Ah okay That’s hot
Oh yeah They make a hot mochi here Okay Okay Uh how much
how much
uh one Okay Okay Okay Oh ready Already Hot
Hot Okay Good Are you a YouTuber
yes Always watch She always can take photo with you
from Singapore
Yeah
Okay Thank you Okay that’s my change and that’s my moi
Okay he watches your video
Oh really okay now you’re in the video
Hello
Hello Okay Okay You’re enjoying the Zifu
yeah I just arrived
Ah you tried this yet this is the famous one in the Zifu
It’s famous It’s like a mochi but they make it hot
It’s grilled So I’m going to try that
Okay Thanks
Okay Nice to see you guys Okay this is uh this is really hot It’s uh it’s burning my hand actually So I believe it’s called um mochi and it’s just Yeah they use like a different type of flour It’s like a a flour that can be grilled Uh let’s Yeah it’s more like a It’s more like a pastry I read that a normal mochi is like the glutenous rice flour but in this they they mix glutenous rice flour with just like regular wheat flour or something like that to make it And then the inside is the azuki bean paste that you normally get in a mochi But it’s all hot and nice and sticky and sweet Yum Yum Okay I’m pretty sure this video is going to go how the last ones went guys where I just snack and buy random souvenirs It’s looking like that’s um the way of it But I believe at the top here is some historic famous shrine Shinto shrine one of the most famous Shinto shrines in Japan dedicated to the god of learning And apparently the students all go there to make a prayer when it’s their exam time or something like that cuz it’s the god of learning you know So maybe I should go and make a prayer and ask the god of learning to help me learn Japanese because that’s not gone too well I’ve been playing Dolingo for like 2 weeks and I feel like if I had to estimate my percentage level of Japanese it would be less than 1% guys Less than 1% You can get some Wagyu steak right there M Oh yeah Yeah I’m going to be up for some black Wagyu loin Yeah I’m going to be up for uh I’m going to be up for munching a lot in this town I reckon Yeah that’s another guy doing the mochi So there is a map here but I don’t know where we are on the map guys But this is what this kind of area looks like There’s some really nice red bridge that I’ve seen in photos of this place and I was researching Um yeah that’s the main Shinto shrine I was talking about there the 10 mango shrine It’s about 100 meters this way I guess we’ll go this way then This is delicious Definitely going to have another one of those before I leave uh the Zifu Yeah I think that sign took me to a dead end Just took me to this It’s blocked off by bamboo That’s just some random road Nobody else seems to be coming this way but I followed the sign to the Tin Mango Shrine Now it’s telling me to go back Ha Yeah this temple is the 13th century Zen temple in there but it’s closed So yeah it’s that that’s where this is the Kusen G temple I think that’s a Buddhist temple They’re talking about Zen in there But I mean it looks closed unless there’s another way in Oh Oh yeah Closed There’s a sign right there saying it’s closed Let’s see Yeah it’s supposed to be like a a zen place for chilling It’s probably the most relaxing place in this town right now All the tourists are down there which is where I’m going to go right now Right This is uh ah so I read the sign wrong They’re basically saying this is the des 10 mango shrine here and they’re saying that this see I read this to be that arrow like all this under between the two lines Actually it’s like that’s Japanese that’s English and that’s here and that’s Japanese and that’s English and that’s there That’s that’s how that sign works I guess I’m the only person to make that mistake because everybody everybody is going the right way Ah here it is The famous red bridge of the Zyu Here this is where everybody gets their selfies and all that Show your man get a selfie No worries Oh wow So it’s pretty crowded guys If this is what it’s like here can you imagine what it’s like in places like Tokyo and Osaka Kyoto all those places with the tourism it must be crazy Thankfully I’ve visited all those places like a decade ago So yeah on this trip I can stick to places like Yoshu uh where it’s a bit more quiet as far as tourism goes But yeah I mean it’s still it is still busy Guys I think yeah I don’t see a lot of other gajun around I mean I can’t see any white faces but I’m pretty sure most of these people are like Chinese or Korean Maybe there’s some Japanese tourists as well but it’s a weekday Normally the Japanese tourists come out on the weekend and somewhere like this would be even busier It’d be all the domestic tourists I think right now on a weekday they’re uh too busy working and stuff So I think this is the thing You’re supposed to wash your hands here Okay Well do that If that’s the thing to do we’ll do that My hands are a bit sticky from the mochi Anyway there we go Okay so we’re actually in the the shrine area and they’re still selling snacks and stuff actually inside the inside the area I’ll see what is available after I check out what’s happening here I think this is like a priest giving blessings or something to these people These will I assume be actual Shinto people people that actually practice this religion rather than tourists You would think it’s the whole uh thing You throw in some coins and uh do a prayer like that I think I did it right I think I did it right Just copy Just copy what the others do guys They bow they clap they pray And then they bow again And that’s it Okay What’s going on here is this chocolate or something i don’t know what this is Well it’s not edible so my interest isn’t that strong I don’t know what it is I think it’s little charms Oh yeah It’s like little uh little like lucky charms or something Maybe that’s something else related to the whole learning aspect I’ve made my prayer to the the god of learning Maybe my check me out in the next video guys My see if my Japanese skills are improved or not But maybe that’s what these uh charms are for to like I don’t know bring bring you luck or bring you more success to your uh learning That’s the prices there Like 1,500 That’s like 10 bucks a little thing Yeah Think I’ll pass I’ll pass on that They’re bit girly as well Ah and they got the fortune telling again you put in a hundred uh it’s all going to be in Japanese The last shrine that I went to the Kashida shrine in Fukoka they had a special section with English fortunes so I could actually read it Um yeah these are Japanese fortunes for Japanese people More lucky charms I don’t know what you do with these Like you tie them to something Is that a necklace or what you wear it as a necklace Maybe hang it up on your rear view mirror on your car I don’t know They’re all selling that I thought these were snacks I thought all those stalls were snacks I think I need to actually exit the exit the shrine if I want more snacks guys Here it’s just praying washing your hands getting your fortune done Ah so people people write stuff on blocks of wood Ah blessings for diplomatic exams or some success for Sophia Yeah So they come and they’ll uh make a wish like I wish for a good husband and friend I wish for So some lonely woman or some lonely gay man is is wishing for a a good husband there Uh yeah that’s what they do That must be the thing there Probably I don’t know where you get the block of wood in the pen Probably at one of these Probably one of these stalls But they’re all selling the same kind of same kind of Lucky Charms Ah this is where you get the wooden blocks I think they write them for you It’s like a thousand yen $7 And yeah they’ve got like a stamp and stuff There’s a big queue for it here But I can see there’s like a woman’s got a pen there You tell her what you want written on it and she writes it for you Yeah that’s how that works for a,000 yen $7 or5 British pounds I’ve had a lot of comments from people saying “Oh you used to put the conversions to different currencies on the screen every time you bought something.” Or I stopped doing that guys It’s easy to work out by yourself You don’t need me to hold your hand through it If you’re watching videos about Japan just learn what the currency conversion is to your currency 1,000 yen is 10 Aussie dollars It’s 7 US or it’s five British pounds So even a six-year-old could work it out based on that whether it’s 1,500 700 100 whatever it is I’m buying Just uh yeah just just keep the conversion in your head because if you were traveling you’d have to do those that math in your head as well So just think about it the same way guys I don’t know if there’s anything else for me to see here Like it is beautiful though isn’t it to check out But I mean I’ve seen the seen them doing their prayers I’ve done my own prayer I’m not going to get my fortune I’ve done that before at a previous shrine Uh yeah but there’s loads That seems to be the common thing to do Here is the wooden block thing and make a wish here Ah these ones are all in Japanese Let’s see if I can find an English one I hear someone praying for good health and happiness for everyone Oh that’s very selfless They’re not just thinking about themselves They’re praying for everyone That’s nice And they’re hoping that they get their little family soon The Wooies Yeah Wonder where they’re from Don’t know if it’s allowed to touch or not I don’t know if I’m bringing bad luck to people by touching but there’s uh you can see how many thousands literally thousands literally thousands of people have done this guys Wow Check this out What I’ve seen this is beautiful So this temple apparently it’s like a thousand years old It’s been here for more than a That tree looks like it’s been there for like a thousand years as well But uh what a beautiful place this is Nothing
Check it out Right I think I’m going to head back to that shopping street It’s getting a bit hot I could do with some kind of refreshment a nice cold matcha tea latte or something like that Or some more sweet treats Or maybe even some Wagu beef guys Let’s see Ah this looks good This looks really good The strawberry smoothie here So this region is actually well known for their strawberries Amal strawberries They’re in season usually in May but I guess if they’re using them in things like this they’re probably preserved Hello This one This one Yeah Okay I got Thank you very much Oh
good Get whipped cream on top Lovely Jubbly Thank you Got our strawberry smoothie right here 540 yen So and almost four bucks Let’s see if it’s worth it Oh wow it’s insanely sweet
Wow Yeah So I’ve had those amal strawberries before and the strawberries themselves are super super sweet So I don’t even know if they added sugar to it or not It’s uh [Music] it’s very sweet in a natural way Yum yum Oh wow I’ve already given myself brain freeze Oh guys I need a couple of minutes before I can continue Oh my god I’m dead I’m dead I’m dead Oh damn I keep doing this to myself guys I keep doing this with the brain freeze I’m always somewhere where I’m too hot I’m too tired exhausted thirsty and then I get something like this a frozen smoothie delicious sweet refreshing and I go straight into it And then I get the punishment I got to be a lot smarter And strawberry smoothie as well Just Just don’t drink it too fast guys and you’ll enjoy it Oh wow Is that actually a trash bin is that actually a trash bin in Japan i don’t know I don’t think so I thought I thought I’d finally found a trash bin I’m going to I’m going to go back to the shop that I bought it from and give them back the trash Unless that’s a trash bin That looks like an actual trash bin Is it oh wow I think it is Oh no It’s I don’t know what it is I’ll uh see if I can give this guy a back Oh
I just left it there It’s theirs I think I’m allowed to do that I think that’s the thing You’re allowed to if you bought it from that shop you’re allowed to give them the trash back guys So what else is worth trying around here some bento boxes here That’s a It’s like a Japanese kind of like lunch set Sometimes when they travel they’ll take like a box with them like that with some rice some sushi some sushimi some tempura But you can also get like that in restaurants as well No lunch box It’s not a It’s not a lunch box It’s a wrench A lunch box That’s a lunch box there Don’t know what Don’t know what a lunch box is
Hello I want this No lunch box
No lunch box
Yes
5:00 close Okay
Oh 5:00 close Now what time oh wow Oh wow Oh it’s now 10 4 Okay And drinking is matcha
Matcha
Matcha Oh wow
I made short work of that matcha But thankfully there’s regular green tea available there at the drinks machine A lot of restaurants have that in Japan You can get free water or free drinks You don’t need to buy them with your meal Lunch box
Okay Emperor sauce sauce
Ah the sauce for the turd Oh I get dessert Okay nice Okay thank you Some miso soup and something else What is in here all that I don’t really like this stuff The eggy It’s like a savory thing Okay that’s nice I got I got the full set I almost made a mess Almost almost made a mess before even taking my first bite So this bento it looks exactly like the marketing presentation in the window It looks exactly like it And that’s a thing about Japan You always you always get what you’re expecting when you see a picture of something or an imitation version of something The real thing usually looks exactly the same And this does now Oh yeah chopsticks here So what will we go for first i guess the sashimi Something nice and light Some salmon sashimi A little bit of show you the Japanese soy sauce M Oh yeah Nice and light and delicious Oh and there’s a crosanthemum there So this Noiko bento box I looked up what Noiko is End no is a Japanese word for wild chrysanthethiums So that’s what’s I’ve got one of them on top of my sashimi right there guys Now this with this one I’m going to take a little bit of the horseradish the wasabi And when I say a little bit just like the brain freeze This is a mistake that I keep making again and again and again I need to use the tiniest bit of wasabi Even that even that might be too much Because a tiny amount gives a real big kick guys So for any of you who have never tried this type of food before and you get this green stuff use sparingly Use very sparingly Like the the smallest amount you can put on your sashimi that’s the amount to put on That’s the correct amount cuz you’ll get the kick just from that That was lovely Salmon simi Now the tempura Tempura is just Japanese style deep battered and deep fried So as a Scotsman I can well approve of that We love to batter and deep fry our food as well And it comes with this It’s like a little dipping sauce You give it a dip it makes it a little bit soggy You’ve got crispy bits you’ve got soggy bits You get that combination of textures when you’re when you put it in your mouth It’s lovely guys Now what is this we’ve got some tempura vegetables And we’ve got I don’t know what this is Something something skinny I think it’s a squid I think it’s a piece of sliced squid No it’s a vegetable What is that i don’t know what it is but it’s it’s some kind of veg This looks like a pea little pea pod And this I don’t know Oh it’s a shrimp It’s a pink shrimp I don’t I don’t know what makes it pink I don’t need the tails Oh that is lovely A little bit of pumpkin And I don’t know what this is Looks like broccoli or cauliflower What else do we have in here all sorts We got more shrimp here This one with the shell on and the head the eyes and everything Guys yeah I’m not keen on that at all Uh oh this one’s cold The tempura was hot This one’s cold I don’t know how I can possibly dell this with chopsticks guys And there’s no knife and fork So I’m going in with the hand I’m getting rid of the Oh getting rid of the head See if I can get the shell off This is reminding me of the time that I ate the crab curry in Sri Lanka I got I got into all sorts of a mess I cut my fingers All of that Let’s rip its legs off It’s got its legs its head its eyes It’s got everything There we go The actual shrimp The actual shrimp meat Okay I guess everything in this little box is going to be cold We’ve got some tomago there That’s That’s a Japanese omelette It was a Japanese omelette It’s now half a half a piece of a Japanese omelette And they make it with some like showyu and a little bit sugar as well I had this It’s like a street food in Malaysia one time Oh yeah It’s lovely They kind of make it in They kind of make it in layers It has a lovely texture M Yum And some other kind of seafood there Some kind of clam or something Wow M I don’t know what that was but it’s very salty and delicious It’s a really tasty flavor And this I don’t know Don’t know what this is Some kind of dumpling M It’s like soaked some kind of socked dumpling And I don’t I don’t really like the taste of that It’s uh I can’t even describe it It’s kind of um herby Yeah I don’t know what it is but I don’t really like it But I’ll eat it Anyway more pumpkin Oh well I’m forgetting about the rice For most Asians this is the most important part of the meal And for me this is the part that if I’m going to leave anything behind it’s going to be this It’s got all these little seeds through it and some kind of berry as well Oh that’s rock hard I think that’s just for decoration but uh yeah it’s nice Nice rice And this something wrapped in a we leaf It’s like another salty I wasn’t expecting that It’s like another salty kind of clam thing but that one it was salty and not a very nice taste The other one that I had was salty and a very delicious taste So I don’t know what that was that was hiding in there And I don’t know what I have no idea what this is guys Does anyone want to guess write in the comments your guess as to what this is It looks like a little bowl I don’t even want to Huh I don’t know what is it Oh it’s some kind of again it’s some kind of like salty thing from the sea cut into little shreds Yeah And this one tastes nice It’s just it’s interesting Nice and an interesting kind of unusual an unusual nice unusual It tastes unusual but it tastes nice Interesting I think it’s some kind of thick miso It was some kind of like covered in some kind of like thick miso paste This is the miso soup right here I buy these from 7-Eleven I make them in my room They’re a nice light low calorie snack that makes you feel good Especially when the weather has been raining or something you’re a little a little bit cold You just make yourself a miso soup Just the the smell the taste everything makes you feel good Strong strong flavor Lovely jubbly Now got the dessert and this thing I’ve had this for free with bento boxes they’ve had elsewhere and I never like it There’s all sorts of It just looks like egg but there’s all sorts of stuff under there like salmon or something Let me see Yeah little cubes of salmon It’s just the texture of this that kind of it kind of weirds me out It’s got the texture of some kind of like jelly It’s like a jelly texture So it’s like it’s like you’re eating some dessert but then it’s all savory It’s full of like vegetables and fish and stuff I think that’s what uh I don’t really like about it It’s not the It’s not the individual flavors on their own It’s like or textures It’s just specifically the way they’ve done this Like another thing that weirds me out is sparkling water Like I can’t even swallow it Like if I get a mouthful of sparkling water I just want to spit it out But I’ll happily drink water and I’ll happily drink sparkling drinks like Coke Zero for example But sparkling water it’s like in my brain in my brain it just doesn’t compute It’s like no that that shouldn’t be sparkling you know there should be some sweetness to it or whatever I think it’s the same with this It’s just the the texture kind of throws my brain off Yeah it’s better like that once I mix it all up It’s like a It’s more like scrambled eggs and it’s uh a lot more palatable for your man Right all we’ve got left is the dessert Another jelly but this one is actually going to be sweet Oh let’s see if I can show this to you guys without dropping it on the table It is all slimy and wobbly It looks like kind of brown sugar caramel kind of No it tastes like tea There’s no sweetness to it at all It’s not It just tastes like uh somebody’s made a jelly out of tea guys [Music] So many interesting flavors in this uh in this bento box But that’s part of traveling Trying trying different things Interesting Unusual Surprising This was surprising tea flavored dessert Okay I’ve learned guys If you say arato goas it’s like thank you very much So yeah I’m already learning more after an hour ago being at that shrine praying to the god of learning I’ve already learned something extra I’ve upgraded my thank yous to thank you very much Just like that And what else is there to do here i’ve had my I’ve had my prayers I’ve had my snacks I was going to photo bomb them Video bomb them I haven’t had my Wagyu beef I’ve still got a bit of an appetite I could have some of that Uh and I haven’t got a souvenir Everywhere I go I get a souvenir guys So what is the souvenir going to be in this town there Huh little strawberry chocolate dooos Oh wow Hm Are they something non-food are they something non-food h These are interesting Kimi doll It’s 3,000 for the big one 1,300 for the small ones Oh wow They’re nice Some cheaper ones there but they look cheaper 660 These are the expensive ones Well not even that expensive Like $9 or so H Hello This one Okay 1320
Okay Okay I got my souvenir Thank you Oh they’re just closing So it’s coming up to 5:00 p.m I think everything’s closing here This is just like a daytime thing Yeah everybody’s packing up That restaurant Yeah they told me they were closing at 5:00 pm So yeah if you come here guys you got to you got to come a bit earlier I haven’t explored down this way Yeah it’s like a tour a tour group There’s a few museums and stuff like that but I don’t know Not really in the mood for I’m in the mood for kind of just wandering around outdoors to be honest guys trying snacks buying souvenirs You know me You know your man You know your man by now Let’s get a closer look at my little uh souvenir right here My Kimmy doll Uh so they they always do this in these souvenir shops They will wrap it in paper and all that Package it up for you Make it all nice I guess in case you want to give it as a gift to someone Ah it’s like a keychain Let’s see My little Kiwi doll This is much better quality than the stuff you get out those guta machines those keychain machines Oh it’s all sticky I think that’s the keeper in the box But yeah it’s like a collectible thing Kimmy doll collection made from wood and very detailed Isn’t that beautiful little Kimmy doll and her name M Chico it means wise child So something else related to learning That’s the shrine there dedicated to the god of learning Now I’m trying to find if there’s anything I can go to that’s interesting around here that might be away from all the tourists or whatever Do I I can either head into the main town or Yeah I’m just looking at random things on Google Maps There’s some tunnel just some random tunnel that’s marked on the map that’s apparently picturesque about 6 minutes away Do you guys want to go and see a tunnel or do you want to browse around the back streets of the Zifu well it’s not a live stream It’s a recorded video So doesn’t matter what you’re writing in the chat/ comments I’m going to make my own decision to go to the tunnel actually Yeah 6 minutes walk I think it’s I think it’s actually going to be up a hill because on the other side of the shrine there’s some big hill Maybe we’re going on some little hiking adventure right now guys I don’t know Got vending machines here I’m up for something but no Coke Zero Plenty of Coca-Cola No Coke Zero Maybe uh this There we go Little matcha tea Zero calories Baby please Healthy drinks on a daily bra Ah we got a map Is my tunnel on this map or not i don’t think so You are here So I’m going up here somewhere Ah here Brick tunnel That’s the one Yeah it’s a feral trek It’s a feral trek up these steps So your man feels like he’s had a bit of adventure today That’s always a good feeling It’s always a good feeling I’m sure most people they come to Desaiu they eat the food like I did They visit the shrine like I did But how many of them put in the effort to do we hike up here by the looks of it not very many Okay I have no idea guys I have no idea where I’m going Any mini more Left or right oh I prefer right guys If I have to choose a direction it’s going to have to be right Gone left It’s a big mistake What is up here another shrine Another shrine but one that one that most people don’t come to I guess Everything seems to be closed Yeah it’s the same kind of thing but less touristic I guess You can do your card get your fortune told do your prayer It’s all the same guys I always say that about visiting temples like there’s people in they go to Myanmar and Thailand and Sri Lanka and they go to this Buddhist temple that Buddhist temple and for me they’re all the same It’s like in India you go to some of the the nicest Hindu temples By then you’ve seen it you understand what goes on there Yeah You’ve seen everything and then you go to another temple It’s just basically the same thing repeated or a smaller version or whatever So that’s what this is There’s sign there’s a sign pointing this way for something I don’t know We’ll see what it is up here Ah it’s a tunnel Is this the tunnel oh no It’s not a tunnel It’s like a we cave Ah it’s like a we cave where you can do a we prayer Let’s see Please help me learn Japanese language Okay like I said guys my Japanese skills are going to be well improved after today Okay I’m having to go back down to go back up the other path So this time it’s a right So I’m taking a right both times guys It’s all good Avoiding going left is the number one thing you need to do in life All right so I think I went the completely wrong way for this tunnel but according to Google Maps I can go out onto the main road walk 3 minutes and then connect to it This is nice Yeah there’s some kind of castle ruins or something up one of these hills somewhere There’s not much of the castle left but it’s a good hike and a good viewpoint I won’t have time to do that today I think it’s like an hour and a half hike So I’d be getting to the top at like sunset and then I’d be stuck I’d be stuck in the dark guys Okay Ah this is it This is the tunnel here right here It’s just some random tunnel guys I don’t know why I had the idea to come here It said on the Google Maps listing that it was picturesque that it was like something out of like a Studio Gibli animated movie or something like that What do you think there’s a tunnel like this where I grew up in Scotland like a historic old tunnel and a little path that I like to go for a walk through the farmlands and all that Kind of reminds me of that guys But this is the tunnel Echo Echo It’s got a good echo Yes guys And it’s taking me back into this This is a nice a nice we place to explore guys I’d recommend coming here trying the snacks praying to the god of learning going for a we explore getting some fresh air Ah surrounded by trees Yes it’s just a wee bit humid and hot but that’s what happens when you come to Japan in the middle of summer The humidity Ah there’s a lot of way out here There’s some bus stop but that’s not the I think that’s just some tour buses That’s not the bus stop slash station that I arrived at I don’t know where I am I think I’m in the completely opposite side from where I arrived at but there is a 7-Eleven guys So it’s what your man wants right now More refreshment Sorry
Oh sorry I’ll get myself an acai smoothie and maybe a snack Oh these are good The cheese stuffed hamburgers I’ve had them before from 7-Eleven There’s too many good things guys Korean pancakes looks like taboki even healthy stuff like chicken breast and broccoli But what am I after something sweet like that Looks exactly like that snack I had earlier And dark chocolate covered banana chips Yeah looks good to me Nice snack Fantastic Sai berry smoothie And this one I’m going to drink nice and slow Just a little a little sip and then I’m going to ease myself into the drink No brain freeze Guys I’m learning I’m learning I was going to go for a we wander but this road doesn’t seem to have a sidewalk They all stop for me I’m not used to that The kind of countries I’ve been traveling in I’m not used to that car stopping for me when they should But uh I guess this is the sidewalk here the drains I’m going to go for a we wander on the the back streets now that everything’s closed the shrine and the museums and all that’s closed I’ll just go for a wee wander and have a we sip of my acai smoothie Yum yum Ah fantastic Now we need to find another conveni to throw this away And this really is a sleepy little town guys Everything’s closed already It’s still We’re still like a couple of hours from sunset but all the shops are closed And I’m trying to find somewhere to chuck this Ah brilliant Oh I think that’s only for Yeah it’s only for plastic bottles Oh damn Some other people have been leaving their drinks there but I’m not going to do that cuz Yeah it’s it’s only for the plastic bottles that come out of that I thought I’d found a place to chuck this H maybe there Yeah it’s always difficult Usually if I have trash I’ll just shove it in my backpack until I find the next comini and then ditch it there But this is a messy thing that’s going to uh mess everything up in my bag right what’s this then i have no idea I’m going to translate this to see if I can chuck chuck my garbage in there Ah it says purchased from a vending machine So it’s all this stuff It says plastic bottles cans and glass bottles And it says anything else please return the other containers to the place of purchase Well I’m not walking all the way back to that 7-Eleven So I’m going to find another 7-Eleven somewhere That’s super annoying guys Super annoying Just ah like I keep seeing like trash bags and people have tied them right up So I can’t just slip my my own garbage into their garbage It’s uh it’s difficult Ah look where I am I’m on this main uh shopping street Again that’s leading up to the shrine And almost everything’s closed Hello Almost everything’s closed apart from I think that’s another one of the grilled the grilled mochis Yeah she’s making them there The grilled mochies Yeah I want I want to chuck this away and then go for a wander Gazifu dog I think that’s just a way a way for them to market a hot dog and sell it to people that want some kind of local specialtity A zifu dog It just looks like like a completely ordinary hot dog Was maybe they added some wasabi to it or something like that and called it a a Japanese hot dog A desue hot dog Ah here we go At the bottom of the street is a Lawson So this is where I got dropped off with the bus I don’t know what time the bus is running till but I think if I miss the last bus there’s always trains that the trains can take you to Tenjen And from there I can make my way back to Hakata pretty easily Mentai baguette H Yeah that’s menty there It’s like salmon row I see that in the train station They’re selling like gift packs of it a lot It’s a popular thing in this part of Japan The menntai I haven’t tried it yet at all ever in my life Okay let’s see if I can be cheeky and throw a 7-Eleven smoothie into Lawson Think it’s this one Be good And I’ll buy another drink A bottled one Ah lovely Mostly these things are sugar-free When you get like a bottled cold iced tea from most countries they uh they fill it with sugar Most of the time you don’t even have to check the label And the ones in these Japanese gambinis it’s mostly just zero calorie just just tea and water Lovely jubbly Save your calories for the snacks guys And I do still have those chocolate banana chips to try Oh hello How are you
you good

No English Okay No worries Doesn’t understand Logan Paul That’s good I think uh I think this generation uh don’t know about that guy and we’ll find somewhere to chill And look how sleepy this place is guys A nice place to just wander around in peace There are some noisy school kids behind me But other than that this is a very serene peaceful place We got a Wagyu restaurant up the stairs there Yeah I think it’s mostly peaceful because I left at late coming here and everything closes at like 5:00 But h never mind I’m trying to find somewhere quiet I can sit and try these banana chips Ah right here This is nice isn’t it a nice little bench made from a tree And whoever owns it have closed their shop So your man will use it right now I’m sure they wouldn’t mind as I try these 7-Eleven frozen banana chocolate chips right here Dark chocolate as well Looks interesting So 100 g is 233 calories And this is Does it say ah there it’s a 70 g pack So 70% of 233 That’s like 163 calories for the for the pie That’s not too bad That’s a healthy V snack guys That is a healthy V snack Let’s try it out The banana chocolate dark chocolate chips Oh I thought it was going to be crunchy It’s all m It’s like ice cream Wow That’s like ice cream I thought it was going to be like when you get uh dried banana chips and they’re crunchy I thought it was going to be like that I was ready to bite down on it but it’s all like um it’s like an ice cream texture Wow that’s nice I’m going to buy some of these when I get back to Folk Walker cuz my hotel I don’t know if this is a normal thing in Japan but my hotel has a freezer It doesn’t just have a mini bar fridge It has a freezer So I’ve been buying things from the convenience stores and then the hotel has a microwave It has like a vending machine room with a microwave I just go and I ping it in the microwave and uh like 2:00 a.m 3:00 a.m when I feel like a snack Oh wow I have some ice creams in there But this is healthier than ice cream isn’t it it’s literally just like frozen banana That’s this the same texture as banana and some it’s just lightly coated in dark chocolate Oh yes Every day guys just exploring and snacking snacking and exploring Kawaii Kawaii doggo I
said thank you on behalf of the doggo I know I have chocolaty hands but every time I go to the family mart that’s next to my hotel and I buy some kind of frozen meal or whatever they give me some of these So I’ve got tons of these saved up that I can carry around with me They’re little hand wipes So that’s super convenient It’s super convenient I can just take these around with me because I’m always trying stuff guys Okay I’m good to go Just shove the garbage in the side of my bag until I find the next kambini Yeah I’m learning how to do it guys I’m learning the best way to snack my way around Japan It’s the litter situation is like a big obstacle but that’s the strategy is you you just go from Kambini to Kambini and dump your stuff And today is the first dry day or mostly dry day in about 10 days So I planned to do this vlog like a week ago and then it rained and I was like “Ah I’ll do it tomorrow I’ll do it the next day I’ll do it the next day.” And it just always it just always rained Oh wow We’ve got like a a little shop here Feel free to take I think it bought for free It just says feel free to take Huh This is like the tops of um like the bento box and all that A little tray Feel free to I think it’s for people that need it I think it’s I think it’s for like actual people that need this stuff Like a food bank type of situation Maybe people in the local area just come and leave it It’s like a donation place Stuff that they don’t want Instead of throwing it away they’ll leave it here in case anybody else in the neighborhood needs it or poor people or whatever Um yeah I mean there’s some nice stuff here Like look at these Huh Yeah I mean I’d kind of feel guilty taking something that maybe someday somebody else could appreciate more or would need I don’t know why anybody would need a statue you know but maybe somebody would appreciate it more than me Pretty sure my my dad likes these kind of things like the wooden carvings and stuff but uh yeah I don’t know Little Mickey Mouse clock there as well Yeah But that’s interesting guys So random as well Right I think I’ve wandered so far that I’m no longer in the zyu I’m pretty sure this is some other town that I’ve wandered into And I can see there’s a train line kind of on the same kind of like way that I’m walking So at least if I keep wandering I can just jump on the train at some other stop not the desifu stop and get back to get back to Fukoka by train But there’s another 7-Eleven right there That’s good It’s easy exploring when you’ve got conveniences Like most of them even have restrooms in the back They’ll have a toilet So that’s something I struggled with a lot in India was if I couldn’t find a McDonald’s or something I’d struggle to find anywhere to go to the bathroom But yeah pretty much every 7-Eleven has one It’s good Ah that’s the train there So the zyu station’s there and then there’s some whatever this town station is there and then the train back to Foco Foka is in that direction So I’m going for a wander but an aimless wander I have no plan I just feel like walking probably all the energy from all the snacks but that’s the kind of direction that I’m going to be heading down into after I use the facilities in here guys Ah that was good Nice and clean as well And now a nice clean drink A green drink A green veggie smoothie Okay 83 calorie green smoothie But how does it taste oh wow Surprisingly good actually Oh wow It doesn’t taste all you know like kale or anything like that That bitter green kind of taste It tastes kind of like I don’t know like apple and broccoli That’s uh Yeah kind of like that kind of taste A little bit sweet Yeah I don’t know what the actual ingredients were in that I can’t remember And I can’t read Japanese There was definitely kale on top so I thought that’s how it was going to taste I’ve had kale smoothies before Something you drink for your health not something you drink for the taste But this you could easily do both Drink it for your health and for the taste That’s a nice one guys That is a nice one What a nice little town Quiet clean safe This is the kind of place you’d like to live isn’t it hello Hello Ah Oh that was the train I need It’s gone from the zyo into Fukuoka tenjen I was trying to I was trying to find somewhere to throw this and these have a sign saying only for the vending machine I didn’t want to jump on the train with this and have to hold it the whole way the whole train journey So I miss my train because of because of this But I think the trains are often anyway and it’s still dry so I can always keep wandering I can I can walk down to the next train station See this is what I need And half of my content is half of my content is thrown away garbage It’s this one I’ve learned Okay The problem is every time I come into one of these conveninis I come out with something else I always have garbage I go in to throw one away and then I buy something else This time I didn’t buy anything else My hands are free guys My hands are free Anyway uh I think I can continue uh walking and wandering So that train is going in that direction So I need to kind of bear that in mind I’ll wander down to the next station I guess which is apparently 21 minutes away That’s no worries It is the Nishetsu Fso Kai The Nishetsu Fuko Kaii That’s That’s an easy one to pronounce isn’t it it’s the Nishetsu Forsok Chai station guys And there’s about another hour of daylight That is the benefit of traveling in the summertime is for somebody like me who starts his day late you get more daylight hours to do your exploring if I was doing this in the winter I remember I was in Osaka in uh like late October early November and it was dark by 5:00 p.m here The sun’s kind of setting like 7:20 7:30 like that So it’s nice guys Only thing that’s not nice is the humidity It’s a bit a little bit uncomfortable Nothing like Southeast Asia though Nothing like Thailand or Indonesia or anything like that or Philippines It’s not that kind of humidity It’s just you know a bit more humid than you’d like it Oh wow I just noticed a we bird’s nest up there Check that out I think they’re waiting for its mama Oh there she is There she’s come to feed them Oh she’s going and picking up bugs and then coming back and then feeding them Isn’t that cute guys but I’m almost at this train station So that’s two train stops from the Zyu that I’ve wandered And I should be able to get a direct train to Tenunen from there But first another 7-Eleven pit stop What do we have here fruits Olay That’s French for fruits and milk I believe I believe le is milk Yeah a milky milky fruit drink This is 28 calories per 100 ms So 500 ms 140 calorie fruit and milk drink Oh it’s like a pinina colada It’s like a pina colada but it’s not going to rain Your man’s drinking pina colada and now he’s going home He’s going home to Hakata after I get the train to Tenjen Nishietsu Kaii station Now I need to work out what my train is Everything’s in Japanese This isn’t really a tourist place at all It’s not desy It’s not penjin It’s not Hakkata I have no idea It’s in Korean as well Oh here we go Desu Oh that’s going to the zyu That’s the opposite I need the opposite one So ah here we go That is in English for Fukuoka Tenjen Yes Platform six and seven for Fukuoka See I told you guys everything’s well organized in Japan Everything’s easy to understand easy to navigate Even as a foreigner I don’t think you’d have this kind of level of ease in places like China I think I don’t think they put like any English at all on the signs and all that This is good English and Korean Maybe even Chinese as well I don’t know Ah so there’s a platform six and seven Which one do I take express to Foka and the local to folk walka Ah I think it’s this one then The express to foka tenion Yeah Oh wow It really is an express train This is going super fast for a local train Wow It’s sprinting Oh wow I’m amazed at how calm this environment is It’s like a busy train station You can’t imagine this in any other country How quiet and calm and relaxed it is for how busy it is you know yeah It’s like you’re going to all these busy places but you don’t feel stressed you know you still feel relaxed It’s good Now I wonder how much this train ride was I’ve only ever taken the subway Uh this is like a an actual train And the bus to the Zyo from Hakata was 700 So this is the Zyo halfway Not even the Zeifu it’s like let’s see uh 370 Yeah So it’s like I’ve skipped a couple of stations on each way Like uh I missed two stations from the Zyu and then I’m coming from Tenin rather than Hakata So probably if I did the full thing the full journey it would cost about the same as the bus and apparently takes about the same amount of time as well Guys so there’s all sorts of snacks and stuff Yeah Uh I still have an appetite guys I still have an appetite There is this It’s called Beard Papa and it’s little uh cream buns I’ve seen this in Thailand before This beard Papa They’ve got a waffles there That does look good Oh they’ve got a sandwich shop here H They also look good Yeah there’s these fruit sandals with kiwi grape and all that $5.94 So $420 for one I’m going to get this for later Okay got myself a dessert Now I just need to find myself a meal I missed out on that Wagyu H little bentos I think that’s for people taking on the train Yeah I missed out on the Wagu guys That is the Soft Bank Hawks baseball team that played the stadium near that beach that I was at in the last video I think they’re playing tonight actually but it’s probably too late for me to go and do that now spontaneously Probably sell out the tickets and stuff like that I probably need to plan if I want to do that but I missed out on the I missed out on the Wagyu beef in the Zifu and it’s still kind of on my mind Wouldn’t mind some doesn’t have to be Wagu but some kind of beef related meal would be lovely I just typed yatai into Google Maps and apparently there’s some down there So if you remember from the first Japan video I did the yaties are those little street food stalls that open in the evening and are popular in this city It’s a very much a fauca thing and there’s like at least half a dozen of them down that street So we’ll check that out Apparently right here on the other side of the road Oh there is one there Oh man See this is what I was worried about Everyone’s kind of close together I think this is way too awkward for me to vlog I can’t vlog like that guys That’s going to be way too if I’m going to be sitting rubbing shoulders with strangers Like how can I put a camera in front of myself and film it i don’t know Can’t That’s just way too awkward I need to find one that’s quiet If I can’t find one that’s quiet I need to just go and find like a a restaurant and come back here when I’m not vlogging and enjoy the experience on my own without you guys N So these ones do look quieter Like that one isn’t packed So we’ll see if they actually sell food or not Beef tail soup Beef tongue Beef steak Ah beef steak Only 10 bucks for a beef steak There’s a charge fee 400 If you get a light snack they charge you 400 Oh that seems to be not a light snack That seems to be a full meal Let’s see Yeah So I could choose that one or uh these other ones are busy I guess I’ll choose this one And here uh beef steak
Beef steak
Yes Matcha orcha
Matcha
Matcha Second
No No alcohol
No alcohol
Just matcha
Just matcha ice
Ice Okay So I think these stalls are mainly for drinking alcohol He has so many different alcoholic beverages So it’s like I think it’s mostly a drinking thing cuz when I I got the matcha he asked me if I want if I want it spiked basically if I want alcohol with him My state Okay Thank you very much Very nice Oh wow Super tender Wow that’s good This is exactly what I was looking for So too much
I gave you too much Okay Okay Thank you Thanks Okay I did it again I gave them I thought I was giving them three 1000s and I gave them two 1,000s and a 5,000 without even realizing it And their honesty she was just like “That’s too much.” And she gave me the she gave me the remainder back Wow Like I didn’t even know I keep doing that I keep the the notes all look the same The bank notes all look the same here Like the 1,000s look like the 10,000s They’re not like different colors like they are in other countries like the Euro for example But uh yeah in Japan everyone’s honest Nobody expects a tip It’s just like everything is like straight up This is the price This is how much you pay Nobody’s going to rip you off Nobody’s going to expect anymore And they’re still going to give you good service and a friendly smile guys And that steak was amazing That’s like the softest most t I wasn’t expecting that from like a They’ve got very limited space to cook She just was in the corner there with a little grill pan grilling that up and I wasn’t expecting a steak that would be any better than I would make myself on a grill pan But that was better than I could make myself for sure I don’t know how they get it so soft and tender but that was delicious guys Now that is the end of today’s adventure Hope you guys enjoyed following me snacking my way around the zyu I’m going to make my way back to Hakata and see you guys on the next adventure Castle

I visited the ancient city of Dazaifu. It’s 40 minutes from Fukuoka but like stepping 1,000 years into the past.
Home to one of the most famous shrines in Japan, Dazaifu Tenmangลซ Shrine, dedicated to the Shinto God of learning, it’s a popular place for students to visit before exams.
I took a bus to Dazaifu from Hakata Bus Terminal in Fukuoka, a short walk from my hotel. Taking the bus was as easy as it is taking the trains. Just wait for it to arrive, hop on and tap your card to pay when getting off. No need to buy a ticket in advance.
The cost of the journey one way was 700 JPY (about $5 USD).
The bus dropped me off right on the main shopping street of Dazaifu, that has loads of street foods and souvenir shops.
I bought an Umegae Mochi, which is a local specialty food in Dazaifu. It’s a grilled mochi, served hot. They use a mixture of glutinous rice flour and regular wheat flour, so it has more of a pastry texture to it than normal mochi. It has the same red bean filling as a regular mochi, but it was all hot and sticky and nice.
The big shopping street leads to the Shinto Shrine that’s the main attraction in Dazaifu. I visited and made a prayer that I will get better at learning Japanese. I may as well have prayed for a miracle but it’s about the most difficult language in the world to learn.
Back on Tenjin-sama Street, the main shopping street in Dazaifu, I tried a smoothie made with Amaou strawberries. Amaou are the popular local strawberries in Kyushu and usually are in season until late May. However, the strawberries in my smoothie were probably preserved or frozen, so I got to enjoy them in June.
That perked up my appetite and I was in the mood for a full meal. I found a restaurant that specialises in Bentos (Japanese lunch boxes). I always enjoy a bento box because you get so much variety in one meal.
The “Nogiku” bento that I enjoyed included tempura, sashimi and a bunch of random vegetables and sea creatures.
I couldn’t leave Tenjin-sama Street or Dazaifu without buying a local souvenir, so I went into a shop and found myself a little Kimmidoll. It’s a brand inspired by traditional Kokeshi Japanese wooden dolls.
It was approaching 5pm and everything in Dazaifu was closing. That meant all the tourists were leaving and I got to do a bit of exploring in peace before heading back to Fukuoka.
I took a train to Tenjin and visited a Yatai street food stall for a nice light steak meal to end the day’s adventure. Yum yum!

19:50 that's look really good ๐
Where are the new videos, Dale?
GOOD THING that you don't have to deal with the tour scammers that are begging for money out, like India for example, and Pakistan the same!! Those temples are so freaking cool to take a tour and it's perfect for the visitors to explore the temples!! Like, they're so unique and pretty, and what i like about this trip to Japan, is when they have a lot of cherry blossom trees. Thank you Dale, for showing us some if the unique temples to explore on, you're such a good example and a expert, by the chance hahaha!!! Japanese language is a challenge to learn, but at least we can learn something from you. This is remarkably amazing my friend, and good luck with the other trips though, and watch out for the other tour scams too!!! Have fun out there!! ๐๐๐๐คฉ๐ธ๐ฎ
Japanese vlogs should continue for more days
Signed up for surfshark using your code tonight Dale. Love the channel.

Hi! Dale! Thank you for always introducing me to Japan! It's so funny to look for your trash cans! Now, as a Japanese person, I'll give you a piece of advice. When you buy something at a convenience store, buy a plastic bag with it. Then you can put your food and smoothie trash in that bag and carry it in your backpack. Once you have gathered a certain amount of trash, you can put it in the plastic bag and throw it away at the next convenience store.๐
I love it when Dale says,"lovely jubbly" and "yum yum". ๐๐ฅฐ
I like Japan. Please travel the whole country and do vlog and upload your experience. It will help your channel a lot.
My mans downing drinks after drinks from convenience stores to convenience stores what a mood other than the trash disposal lol
Will they get offended if you tip them?
Rather than going to Japan I prefer when Dale goes to India Sri Lanka Pakistan Turkey where Dale meets new friends who care about him there
What is the arm that holds the camera gets freakishly big sort of like one of those crabs you see 20:30 20:30 with one big claw. Itโs funny to picture. Dale have a day๐ข pop
50:00 Cars stopping in line for him is crazy
You had a steamed egg custard with your bento and the beef in the very last food stop was probably tenderized with bicarbonate of soda. Very Japanese.
47:50 this whole "tunnel into nature" place is beautiful
Can you visit the island that inspired the animes of hayao miyazaki and other cult anime places ? Can you try famous japanese food in big cities like these we see in naruto ? Can you try to find the hot natural spring (onsen) where peoples and cute monkeys bath ? Can you visit mont fuji ? Can you visit an only samurai allowed (no tourist lol) temple isolated in the forest or a haunted forest ? I think it would be interesting to meet locals aswell in a sake bar or idk. Chase dreams, ghosts and one in a life time adventure, not tourist please
You should visit Nepal again and then London too.
