the vintage camera 🤝 the shots

The Toshiba Allegretto M70 (PDR-M70) came out in 2000—a compact digital camera with a 3.3MP CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom, and a 1.8-inch LCD screen. Practically a toy in today’s standards. But back then, having a camera that didn’t require film and could preview shots instantly was pretty exciting for everyday users.

I didn’t pick it up for the specs—obviously. I’ve just always wanted one coz’ I thought it was cute. There’s something about the design that makes me want to bring it places—even just to see what it captures.

So I took it with me on a recent trip to Shizuoka. The photos are soft, pixelated, kind of off—but I love that about them. There’s a different kind of honesty in shots like that.
