Thirteen sumo wrestlers from the Naruto stable, who will compete in the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka from March 9, visited Yakushiji Temple in the city of Nara on February 25. After praying for victory, they tried shakyo, which is to copy Buddhist sutras by handwriting them, using ink brushes. Stablemaster Naruto and a person at Yakushiji Temple know each other, and sumo wrestlers have been visiting since 2019. It is said that people can feel calm by copying sutras.
