🍤 Kuromon Market, Osaka – Everything We Ate, Part 2 #japanfood #osakafood #japantravel
this is absolutely everything we ate at Osaka’s Kurban Market part two our first stop was a Japanese favorite shrimp tempura cooked fresh on the spot and drenched in sauce it was absolute perfection and honestly I could have eaten 10 of them easily after that we tried some hot cucumber which had a bit of a kimchi vibe and really helped balance out all the fried food super delicious and totally unique then we went for something a little different freshly caught sea urchin also known as uni it was briney creamy and surprisingly tasty i’ve had it on sushi before but never raw like this it was such a cool experience and definitely worth trying if you’re feeling adventurous we wrapped things up with a slice of ice cold cantaloupe on a stick which was the perfect refreshing dessert especially on a steamy hot summer’s day in Osaka
📍 Kurumon Ichiba Market, Osaka
Kuromon Market, aka “Osaka’s Kitchen,” served us one of the tastiest mornings of our whole time in Japan. 15 minutes walk from Dotonbori, this covered street food mall has over 150 stalls.
We went mid-morning (best time to go) and everything was open, crowds were less, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Highlights included crispy shrimp tempura, hot steamed pickled cucumber, freshly-caught raw sea urchin and ice-cold cantaloupe on a stick.
Heads up: no eating while walking! Japan’s got signs everywhere asking you to eat right at the stall. This wasn’t the best street food market we visited in Japan… but it’s up there. 🙌
