In this video we are in race mode as we chase Locomotive Services Group’s B1 61306 Mayflower during her 1st mainline trip of the year after being acting as an understudy to fellow LNER locos 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley & 60532 Blue Peter at Crewe 5A.

Mayflower had a go at working Saphos Trains’s The Lakelander from Crewe to Carlisle & return outward via Shap & returning via The Cumbrian Coast line.

This was the 1st time Mayflower has been seen this far north since the late spring of 2019.

We start the race at Warrington Bank Quay as we see her double heading with 57002 Winston Churchill after the 2 took over the train at Crewe which was brought down from Leicester earlier that morning.

Mayflower was diesel assisted after Network Rail imposed an orange light warning after 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley set the lineside ablaze at Daisyfield in Blackburn & north of Ribblehead Viaduct on The Settle & Carlisle while working The Fellsman from Chester to Carlisle & back.

After overtaking the train at Preston we next see the tour at Lancaster slowing down caz of a signal check.

After overtaking the train again at Oxenholme LD while Mayflower took on water we capture Mayflower & Winston Churchill through Penrith North Lakes.

For the return run we get the trip in the pouring rain at Flimby before ending this video through Lancaster on the 1 in 98 gradient on the up fast line.
