Insane First Impression of Peruvian Capital City (Lima π΅πͺπ±)
Hey guys, welcome back to the new vlog. My name is Tor Bashu. Right now, I am in Iquitos City, which is the biggest city in the world. It is not possible to reach here by road. Right now, we are inside the country of Peru, but we are in the Amazon forest of Peru. This is the main city of Peru, where you can see the real and original culture of Peru. We have not been there yet. We had reached the Peruvian Amazon City, Iquitos, by a three-day boat. There are only two ways to get out of this city. Either by boat through the river or by flight. Right now, I am at the domestic airport of Iquitos. Today, I am going to Lima City in Peru, which is not only the capital of Peru, but also the largest city in Peru. Today, I am going to take a domestic flight from Iquitos to Lima, which is about 1,000 km away. It is going to be a two-hour flight. My airline is called Star Peru Airline. It is a domestic airline of Peru. This flight cost me 7,000 Indian Rupees, including check-in luggage. So guys, our flight was scheduled for 3 o’clock, but… The flight has been delayed for about half an hour. This is Star Peru. This airline is called the worst-rated airline in Peru. Most of the time, it stays behind schedule and… Many a times, It’s flights gets cancelled. There are other domestic airlines in Peru. But I could only find this for the moment. I booked it around two days ago. This aircraft is quite small. I think there are not that many passengers here. As this aircraft is half empty. So guys, I officially welcome you to the Republic of Peru, a country in Western South America, and the third-largest country in South America after Brazil and Argentina. After a two-hour flight, we have finally reached Lima, the capital and largest city of Peru. Currently, we are at the Lima airport. This airport serves both international and domestic purposes. But, this Lima airport is not located in the Lima city or Lima district. It is located in the neighboring city of Lima. The city center of Lima is about 20-25 km from the airport. For the past few days, I was in the Amazon, in it’s tropical region. The tropical weather there was extremely hot. Around 30 degrees, 35 degrees, 40 degrees. But as soon as I landed in Lima, I felt very cold. The temperature there was around 30-40 degrees. Now the temperature is around 15-20 degrees. We have come back to the southern hemisphere. This is a scene from outside of the airport. There are a lot of people here. There is a lot of crowd. A lot of people are loudly calling for a taxi. But I have to take a bus from the airport to the city center, to the place where I am staying. Let’s see if I can get a bus from the airport. Currently, we are around 17,000 km away from India. Peru is around 17,000 km away from India. We are 10.5 hours behind India in time. The time zone of Peru is GMT-5. There is almost a day and night difference between India and Peru. There are a lot of taxi drivers behind me. But I have to take a bus. If I don’t get a bus then I’ll take a taxi. Let’s see if I can get a bus. It’s almost 6.45 PM. I should be able to get a bus by 6 PM. There are a lot of taxi drivers outside the airport. There are taxi drivers everywhere. I don’t know where the bus is going. The locals here might know more about this. This man was walking in opposite direction. So, I asked him for directions to the nearby bus to Lima city center. He said he will guide me to the city center. He is such a nice guy. He is personally dropping me off to the Bus. He is going to drop me there. He is telling me to put my cell phone back in my pocket. Let’s do what he says. One should always heed the advice of a local person. As you can see. Almost everyone is wearing a jacket here. Some are wearing light jackets while others are wearing heavy jacket. A lot of people are wearing extremely heavy jackets. I am walking only in a T-shirt. Let’s see what we can do. I have a very light jacket in my bag. If it doesn’t work, I’ll buy a jacket. I have walked from the airport to the main road. This is the main road. I have reached a local bus stop. He says it will cost Rs.400. Approximately around Rs. 100. This is what a local taxi. of this place looks like. Taxi is written on it. This is a local unorganized taxi. It is considered highly unsafe. What kind of local transport is this? What is your profession? System engineer. Okay, nice. Very nice. There are a lot of big vans and minibuses on road here. Look at the conductor of this van. The conductor of this van is a lady. She is shouting. Do you want to go to Herat Forest? Yes. Thank you so much. I have to go to Herat Forest. This bus will take me there. Herat Forest? How much? How much is the fare? It’s 4 Sol. This is the ticket. I am falling due to the buses movement. Let’s sit here. I’m traveling in a local bus of Lima city. We have reached the city center of Lima. There was a lot of traffic on the way. A lot. The bus took around 1.5 hours to cover 20 km. So guys, welcome back again. From Lima. The capital and largest city of Peru. Right now, I am staying in the Miraflores area of Lima. This is the most high-end area not only of Lima but all of Peru. It is the most posh area. It is also the most expensive area. It is also the safest area of Lima and Peru. The safest area is Miraflores. You will find all the high-end things here. There are a lot of restaurants, bars, clubs, shopping complexes as It is quite an upscale area. Miraflores is the best of Lima. Today, I am going to explore Lima. First of all, I am going to one of the most populous business districts in Lima. This district is called Gamara and is the shopping hub of the city of Lima You will get to see the local life of this city. It is around 10 km from here. Our taxi has arrived. I ordered it through the online app called Yango. For a distance of a 9-10 km ride through this taxi. It will cost me 13 soles, which is around 300 Indian Rupees. In Lima, I think I have to pay 30-35 Indian Rupees per km. So far, the impression I’ve got of this city is that… It looks very modern and well developed. Most of the roads in this city are well-maintained, modern and well-developed. It’s road are broad as well. There are multiple lane roads here as well. There are four-lane roads here as well as six-lane roads. Overall, Lima City looks very modern and developed to me. There are so many flyovers, over bridges… pedestrian bridges, underpasses in this city. So guys, we have reached the biggest shopping district not only of this city but in the entire country. In Gamara. This district is comparatively older than rest . Our taxi driver has dropped me at this place. From this place the Gamara districts begins. You can see a lot of street food and snacks stalls here. You can find a lot of sweets, confectionaries, juices etc. Look at this. You can also find fried plantain chips here. Plantain is a type of fruit or vegetable which is very similar to banana. Look at this. There is lot of steam coming from this place as. They are frying plantain here. You can see different varieties of plantain chips here. Plantain was very popular in those countries. In Latin America and in Africa as well. What kind of place is this? I couldn’t see any people till now. But now I can see that there is quite a crowd here. This is why it is called the shopping district of the capital. The Gamara district occupies a very large area. Despite the big space, the crowd is unending. This is a very huge crowd. There are a lot of clothes, garments and textile shops here. You can also find a lot of new fashion items here. A big chunk of Liam’s population is here. People from different regions of Peru also come here to shop. There are a lot of loudspeakers here. You can hear the music. As I am traveling further, the crowd is getting bigger as well. When I was coming here, I told some people that I am going to Gamara. They told me to be careful. This area is very local. People of all type come here from all over Peru. There is always a lot of crowd here. So be very careful here. Especially with your belongings. There are a lot of shops here. There are both indoor shops and outdoor shops here. This is a very crazy place. There are so many people here, it’s really a huge crowd. Oh my God! I have never seen so many people in one place in the entirety of Latin/South America. One gets to hardly see it. Maybe you can get to see it in some areas. But this is a very large area. Yet, It is full of people. People of all ages and types are here. People are standing outside with a menu. There must be a restaurant nearby. On one side, there is a part of Lima that is very modern and developed. It is quite decent. On the other side, there is a very old type of area. With a lot of crowd. There is a lot of noise here as well. You can see. There are so many people in front of me. It seems that I’ll not even get a place to stand. There are a lot of loudspeakers here. Which are causing quite a bit of noise. You can see people everywhere. There are people everywhere. I’m thinking, where have I come? This is an extreme place. This is a crazy place in the whole of Latin and South America. Look at this. There are so many shops with clothes in this line. Local clothes are sold here. You can buy branded clothes here as well. You can also buy copies of branded clothes here. You can buy all types of clothes here. This is a local market. As you can see. There are hundreds and thousands of clothes shops here. To cater to such a large population. People are selling clothes on the road. Here, people are selling clothes on the road. People are selling clothes both indoors and outdoors. People are selling clothes in an open area. There are all kinds of shops here. People are selling clothes according to the prevailing facilities and conditions. There is no place to walk or stand in some of these places. Such is the density of crowd here. A lot of people here can be seen eating street food here. They are having lunch/brunch. Some must be having their breakfast here. They are selling fried potatoes here. They are selling something similar to fried potatoes here. Served with sauce and salad. These are quite big for fried potatoes. Roads here are not that narrow that… Vehicles cannot pass here. I think this whole area is pedestrian only. I can see a few four-wheelers here and there. They must be administrative vehicles. Public vehicles are not allowed here. If this was India, on such a broad road. There would have been a line of vehicles here. This has been made a pedestrian only road. There is a lot of noise here. My ears are hurting a lot. Sausages are being sold here. People are eating sausages here. Sausages are being fried here. Some sauces are also being added on top of it. Can you hear me or not? Many people come here alone. Some have come here with their family, friends, and their significant half. People come here with all sorts of company. Some have brought there children with them. I don’t think violent crime happens here. But petty crime like pickpocketing is quite common. Everyone told me to take care of my belongings. Especially mobile phone and purse. Don’t take too many things with you. And use them very carefully. You never know when you will lose them. As people from all over Peru come here to shop. I have never thought that there would be a place like this in Peru. Or in the entirety of Latin/South America. It’s so crowded. It’s quite shocking to me. The population of the entire country of Peru is approximately 34 million. Approximately 3.5 crore people live in Peru. Around 30% of that population lives in the capital city of Lima. The population of Lima is approximately 10 million. Approximately 1 crore people live in Lima City. Who is standing here? Maybe it’s King of Peru. Who is this standing here? Such a tall man. Who is he? Where did he come from? Everyone is taking pictures with him. How can someone be so tall ? Is he a real man or a statue ? Or is he a robot? I think he is 8 feet tall. Oh my God. Everyone is taking pictures and videos with him. As you can see. He is twice the size of these kids. What is happening here ? Who are all these people? They are cosplaying as ghosts. Look here. Some are ghosts. While others are skeletons. What are others cosplaying as ? Those are super heroes. And super villains. Look here. People who don’t have shops are selling clothes in open ground here. They are standing here to sell clothes. I am surrounded by people from all sides. But it’s fun. I feel like I am back in India. It feels like I’m walking in India. In a local market in India. Other than being the capital of Peru, Lima Is also the political, cultural and commercial center of this country. There are speakers everywhere. They are saying Ropa Ropa Ropa. Ropa means clothes in Spanish. Clothes. People are everywhere around me. They are literally everywhere. It’s 60 degrees. I am walking in this way. It’s afternoon. That’s why it’s a little hot. It’s a little cold in the morning and evening. Despite It being almost summer season here. Thankfully, it’s not winter season right now. It’s a different experience. It’s a different experience. I am the only one holding a camera in this market. I can’t see anyone with a camera. I can’t see anyone with a mobile phone. Not even a single mobile phone. It’s very rare. People are staring at me, they’re wondering about… What am I doing here with a camera and a mobile phone? Spain colonized Peru for about 300 years, from the early 16th century to the early 19th century. It’s been about 200 years since Peru got independence from Spain. The official language in Peru is Spanish. In addition to Spanish, there are two co-official languages, Quechua and Aymara, which is the indigenous language of Peru. The indigenous language is the language of the original inhabitants, Quechua and Aymara. There are a lot of people here, men and women, selling small cards, cold drinks, juices, soft drinks, water, etc. It’s happening all over the market, a lot of people are selling it. They are selling it from small cards like these. Look at this, it’s something like ice cream or kulfi. They are selling it in different flavors. You can see a lot of big international brands are getting copies here. There is CK, Nike, even Lacoste are getting copies. The whole market is full of fake and copy products. These are the local police officers of this place. Jugo de Naranja, which means orange juice. I’m thirsty, so I’m drinking orange juice. I think it’s natural and fresh. Look, a lot of people are drinking. Quite a few people are coming and going from here. Look, these are the oranges. Peruvian orange. This is a machine. They are making juice from this machine. Hello. Jugo? Okay. This is orange. They are making juice from this machine. It’s fresh juice. Something like this. Let’s drink orange juice, I’ll have another glass if this turns out to be great. Her technique seems quite good. They are squeezing it instantly to make fresh juice. Okay, gracias. So, our orange juice is ready. Fresh squeezed orange juice. I had a taste piece. It’s very sweet. It feels good to drink. Un mas. It’s very cheap. One glass of orange juice for 200. One glass of juice is priced around for 45 rupees. In Miraflores, one glass of juice is for 10 soles. One glass of juice is for 225 rupees. Here, one glass of juice is for 45 rupees. It is 5 times cheaper than Miraflores. So, I have to pay 4 soles. I have change for 4 soles . Look, this is a coin of 2 soles. It looks something like this. Okay, gracias. So, guys, we have come to the old city of Lima. It’s also called the city center of Lima. Because this place is in the center of Lima. It’s in the middle. So, the street we are walking on right now is called Giron de la Union. Giron means ‘street’ in Spanish language. And this place was built during the Spanish colonial era. It’s one of the oldest parts of the city. And you will find a lot of old and historical buildings here. This street reminds me of Mexico City. There is a street in the center of Mexico City quite similar to this one. This street will end at a very big square ahead. And while walking, this cathedral has come into our view. How magnificent, this cathedral looks majestic. Look at its architecture. It has been made in so much detail. Amazing, this cathedral. As you can see, it is a very beautiful, magnificent and unique cathedral. In Lima, you will see a lot of people which are of mixed ethnicity. Such is the case in most Latin American countries. If we talk about ethnicity in Peru, around 60% of the population in this country is of mixed ethnicity. That is, the mixed population of indigenous and immigrants from different parts of the world such as Europe. Approximately 25% of the population in Peru is of indigenous ethnicity. That is, 25% of the population is of indigenous people, who are the original inhabitants of Peru. Around 6% of the population is white, who consider themselves pure white or direct descendants of European or Spanish origin. If we talk about religion in Peru, approximately 95% of the population in this country follows Christianity. And the remaining 5% have become other religions. When the Spanish arrived in Peru in the early 16th century, there was no Christianity here. People followed indigenous religion. Christianity came to this country after the arrival of the Spanish colonizers. And almost the entire population was converted to Christianity. Many people were forcibly converted. Many people were massacred here. Most were killed. Many were forcibly converted. In pre-Columbus time, that is, before the arrival of the Spanish, only indigenous people lived in this country. So when the Spanish came here, it was a kind of outside world, according to the people here. So a lot of Eurasian infections and diseases came with them. Which spread like wildfire amongst the indigenous population. And because of this, a lot of indigenous people died. As you can see, Lima is written here in very big words. A lot of people are coming here to take photos, videos, TikTok videos, making reels and shots, etc. Now we have reached the center of the city. And one of the largest and most popular squares in the city, which is called Plaza de Armas. Plaza means square in Spanish. This square is called the heart and nerve center of the city. People come to this square from all over Peru, from all over Lima, to see this place. As you can see, there are historical and colonial buildings all around. There is also a church in this square. This place is called the birthplace of Lima. About 200 years ago, for the first time in Plaza de Armas, an independent speech was delivered in front of thousands of Peruvians. And this is where the Republic of Peru was born. If we talk about the economy and income level of Peru, the economy and income of Peruvians are classified as upper middle class by the World Bank. And on an average, the GDP per capita of Peruvians is more than three times that of India. Due to the high population of India, despite the huge increase in our economy. But still, even today, our GDP per capita is very low. It is among one of the lowest in the world. We are around the 130th number. We are around the 5th number in the economy, and around the 130th number in the GDP per capita or economy per capita. The difference is huge. In India, the majority of the population falls in the low-income group. Here, it falls in the upper middle class income. That is a big difference. After visiting a lot of places in Lima and seeing a lot of things and people. I didn’t see any beggars here. I didn’t see anyone asking for money. There are a lot of poor people here. A lot of people need money, but no one is begging here. Everyone is doing some work or trying to sell some things. I saw a lot of poor people here. If we were in some other country or an Asian country, perhaps you’d see begging more often. But here, they are trying to sell somethings. It could be a toffee, or a chocolate, or a chewing gum, it could be anything. They are trying to sell and earn money even if they don’t have anything. Everyone is trying to working hard here. In some way or other, they are earning money. People work hard here on weekdays. There is no compromise with work. They work really hard. Then they will enjoy life on weekends. There is no work on weekends. They enjoy life with family and friends. This is how it is in Latin America, America, and even in Europe. We will find a restaurant to dine later. We will see some of the restaurants here. But right now, a lot of street food is being sold here. Their hygiene is next level, they have very clean and hygienic street food. There is no limit to their hygiene, you can see everyone is wearing gloves Even in the small shops on the side of the road, people are wearing gloves there. They are selling hygienic food. There is a quail egg This is a quail egg Quail is a bird, if I’m pronouncing that right. They are making a dish with quail eggs. Quail eggs are very popular in many countries. What is he making? I have never eaten anything like this. It looks very interesting. They are making some street snack with quail eggs. He is selling both ripe and raw mango. This is a small street stall. But still, he is wearing gloves. They are selling flan here. It is very popular in Europe and Spain and maybe it originated there. Very little? This one is 3 soles, that one is 4 soles and this is priced at 2.50 soles. Let’s try the local dessert. I think it is priced at 3 or 4 soles. I can’t taste it as I don’t have a change for it. Let’s see if I have change. Change is called Camio, hopefully I should have some. Camio? Yes It is around 1 dollar. We’ll be trying lots of street snacks of this place. He gave me back 17 soles, which means it costed me 3 soles. I asked him to hold the camera for me. He was adding sugar syrup on it which I refused. It is made with condensed milk. It is called Vainilla in Spanish. It is made through the process of baking. It is looking quite tasty to me. It is very popular in European and North African countries as well as in Latin America. You can see the locals buying and eating this dish with much relish. I am conversing with the locals here. And no one is trying to cheat me. They are only asking for the genuine price. If a foreigner comes in India, then… This product might’ve been sold to him for at least twice the price or even more. I’m talking about few people only as… After all not everyone is like that. The price for locals is the same for foreigners. Even though I don’t know their language and can be profited from. As I am not from here. This is the dish I don’t prefer to eat it. As you can see it is ready. It is made with quail eggs. It is a local ice cream from Peru. It is an ice cream of indigenous people. It is made in a different way. I think it is the same. I have heard of it as it has got quite a reputation. It is called Poncho. Let me show you. Hello, What is your name? Yes, It is Ponche ice cream. It is made with condensed milk and egg white. It is an egg white ice cream. Let’s try it. It is very popular here. It is egg white ice cream. Wow He is beating the ice cream after every 2 or 3 minutes. To make it fluffy. As It is full of air inside. How much? 3 soles. Okay 3 soles it is. Everything here is for 3 soles only. This is a very good thing. I thought I won’t get it. Or I would’ve to search very hard for it. But I got it very easily. Look at this. He is adding chocolate syrup. Okay Gracias 3 soles. Okay Gracias Okay Look at this ice cream. It is made with egg white. It is very light. It feels like there is no weight to it at all. There really is no weight. It feels like I am holding a weightless thing. There is literally zero weight in my hands. Let’s try this Ponche ice cream. It’s a Peruvian special. It is very fluffy and light that… It feels like it will fall down. The entire ice cream is shaking. It is a weightless ice cream. It has been made fluffy with egg white, sugar and milk. It is quite good. It has a very different taste. It doesn’t taste like normal ice cream. But it has a different taste to it. It is very sweet. After eating it, I feel like I have not eaten anything. This is also a very popular Peruvian street dish or a dessert. It is called Morada. It is very popular here. What is this? It is Arroz con Vito. Arroz con Vito And this is Arroz con Leche. Yes, Okay, Just a moment. Okay, What is it’s name? Okay, Look at this There are 3 dishes here. Like we have ‘Kheer’ in our country. Made up of rice and milk. This is also Kheer. That is Arroz Leche. Made up of milk and rice. This is also a rice dish. But, there is something else instead of milk in it. I don’t understand this one. But this is a very popular dish here. Ultra popular. Morada Okay. Do you want a triple? Triple? All three So, I am taking a mix of all three dishes. Okay. This is very tasty. Do you want fruits? Okay, Yes. You can see This is made… With black corn… Or purple corn. It is very popular in Peru. Purple or black corn. I didn’t ask about it’s price. As people don’t cheat here. They tell me the right price only. Look This is a mixture of three things. There is milk and rice kheer below. After that this is also a dish with rice. After that comes Morada. Which is made with purple corn. On top of that… They’ve put Coconut, raisins… And condensed milk. It’s looks very tasty to me. But, let’s pay the bill first. Then we’ll eat it. Everything is very affordable here. The price is around 90 rupees. Good afternoon. I thought it would be around 10 Soles. Where are you from? Where are you from? I am from India. Thank you I gave him 10 Sol and He gave me 6 Sol back. Thank you Welcome, We are always here. Yes, Are you his daughter? My daughter Okay, So she is his daughter. He is welcoming me in his country. Okay So, I have kept the camera here, hopefully it does not fall. It’s very tasty dish. It’s a very jelly like. Can you imagine ? This tasty dish is made up of purple corn. Wow, It’s very tasty. They have used quite a bit of cinnamon in it. Maybe a little ginger as well. The taste of cinnamon is very strong. The second dish consisted of rice and caramel. What are they doing there ? Why is it so crowded here? Lottery, It’s a game type lottery. Quite a few people are watching in the crowd. The one who is playing is shouting Watch this. People are gambling here. They are investing money in coins. They are playing these games. It’s a very popular time pass in Peru. Everyone is investing money in it. Some wins but most loses. People are enjoying it together. He is making a very loud noises. He is making a very funny noises too. People are laughing at his voice. I don’t know who won and who lost. People are very excited about this game. They are shouting and making noises. There is some type of game going on in every nook and cranny here. Various activities are going on. There is a dance happening here. There is a music show as well. There are many people sitting here. I don’t know what’s going on here. Let’s go and see. What kind of game is this? Its making so much noise. I don’t know if my voice is getting recording or not ? So many coins. So many coins. There is a game going on here. People are playing games here. I don’t know what kind of game is this. I am seeing this kind of game for the first time in my life. There is a very loud music here. I don’t know if my voice is reaching you all. People are putting money in it and It is falling inside it. I don’t know how this game works. I have no idea, But it looks very interesting. He is talking to me all of a sudden. There was a live show going on here. I went inside and stood up. They started talking to me in the mic. They asked me which country I am from. I said India. They started laughing and saying hello. It’s a crazy atmosphere here. I am in the city center right now. I am very close to the main square. It will be a 2-3 minute walk till i reach there. There is a huge crowd in Lima, It’s nearly endless. This is the second biggest city in South America. After Sao Paulo. Although, I did not see such a crowd even in Sao Paulo.
I had crazy experience in Lima City, Capital and Largest city of Peru, South America.

Many Thanks for this enjoyable and entertaining Vlog on the Vibrant Capital City – Lima of Peru π₯βοΈ
Regards and Good Wishes Always π
Peru was never a colony . It was a Viceroyalty of the spanish Empire . Isabel the catholic queen commanded that ths Spanish should marry the natives . The opposite of northamerica where the British exterminated the indians.
THE COSMIC RACE …. ( Vasconcelos )
The official history of Peru was written by the British , which blames ths spanish for the present poverty . The opposite is the truth.
