Giant Salmon Roe Bowl in Hokkaido,Overflowing Ikura Donburi Experience in Sapporo | Must-Try Seafood
Welcome to Sarpero, the heart of Hokkaido, where seafood dreams come true. Today, we’re about to experience one of Japan’s most legendary dishes, the Sako Meshi, a rice bowl overflowing with bright orange jewels of flavor, ikure, or salmon row. This is the famous restaurant known for serving over a million customers since it opened. And the star of the show, this the original tako meshi, which means the overflowing ikura rice bowl. You can choose from three sizes, small, medium, or go all in with the giant bowl. I’m going for the medium. A perfect balance of satisfaction and survival. Okay, this is the moment. They’re going to pour the ikura until it literally overflows from the bowl. But here’s the fun part. They shout as they pour. Your show. Your show. Your show. They chant, which basically means a heaveho. It adds so much excitement to the experience. And just before it spills over, a stop right at the edge. It say, “Look at this. Each little orb glistens like a jewel, full of rich ocean flavor. These are marinated inhouse using over 20 tons of salmon row a year since 2005. All carefully selected from top fishing grounds around the world. Wow, it pops with flavor. briny, buttery, umamari packed. It’s incredibly fresh and delicate. You’re supposed to enjoy the ikura before mixing it with the rice. And I totally understand why. If you’re ever in Sarpero, don’t miss this unforgettable experience. The taste, the performance, the hospitality, it’s seafood heaven in a bowl. Thanks for watching. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit that bell for more travel and food adventures across Japan.
