Crossing Japan Overnight: Tokyo to Takamatsu on Sunrise Seto Sleeper Train

[Music] Hello, I’m at Tokyo Station, one of the world’s leading terminal stations. It’s now 9:00 p.m. Much too late to leave for the trip. But don’t worry, from now on, I’ll be on the express train, which runs along the railway at night. Would you like to watch the running hotel with me? Stay tuned till the end. Okay, let’s get started. [Music] The train has come. The sunrise set is the only overnight sleeping per train service regularly operated in Japan. It runs between Tokyo and Tam in Kawa Prefecture on the island of Chicago. This train is from Tokyo, so it probably came from the train depot. The Sunrise Express departs focus station at 9:50 p.m. and arrives at 7:27 a.m. tomorrow morning. It’s a train journey of around 9 and a half hours overnight. There are several private room types on the Sunrise Express. Today’s room for me is a single twin room in card 6, room 12. Is this a single or twin? The name of this room might make you wonder, but it’s actually a room for two [Music] people. The single train room has a bunk bed. There’s a staircase to get to the upper bed where you can put your luggage. It’s very small, but it’s like a child’s secret base. It just like a secret [Music] base. My husband will sleep on the top of the bank bed. I asked him to take a video of the top of bank for me. [Music] The room is not spacious enough for large suitcases. [Music] [Music] [Music] Now let’s take a look inside the room. This is a train configuration of the Sunrise Express. Toilets and washrooms are available in all cars with shower rooms in cars three and 10. Passengers can buy a prepaid cart called a shower cart which allows them to use the showers. Shower cart sell out quickly. So I took a bath at home in advance. There’s a clock and you can set the alarm. These switches are for the lights, curtains, and radio. Now the radio broadcasting service has ended. So the buttons for the radio are just for decoration. [Music] A power strip is recommended as there’s only one outlet in the room for charging. Make sure you lock the door when you go outside. The train has just left Tokyo station. Our 9 and a half hour journey is about to begin. It’s raining. [Music] Fore! Foreign! Foreign! [Music] for speech. ending car announcement is made in Japanese but it’s too long and does not and after about 2 minutes The incor announcement in English is played the one in Japanese. I had a light meal at home before going out for dinner, but I got bent with some alcohol drinks at Tokyo station. I’m going to share the bento with my husband as it too much. [Music] Show. She don’t know one of them. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] When the train had just left atom station, I became sleepy. Good night. Good morning. It’s 5:30 a.m. now. The train has just passed the Himi station. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. You got heat. Keep going. Are you waiting? The lower bed can be folded down to form a [Music] seat. Removing the middle board turns to the bed into two seats. The middle road becomes the back rest of one of the [Music] seat. The table is stored to the side. Pull it out and the seats are ready. [Music] The Sunrise Express has slippers as one of them amenities. These slippers are quite good. From Akayama station, there’s 14 car train split into sunrise and sunrise train heading to separate destination. I am now observing the separation process. [Music] [Music] Fore! Foreign! Foreign! [Music] [Music] Attention please. The sunrise set is crossing the great set bridge. Now the great set bridge also known as setto bridge is a series of double deck bridges. It connects pama and kaga prefectures in Japan across five small islands in the setto island sea. The great set of bridge was constructed between 1978 and 1988 as part of the Honu Chipoku bridge project connecting Honu and Shiku Island is the only river in the project that carries rail Traffic [Music] Happy.
