Hey Reddit,
I’m Max from Perth WA, and I’m on a mission to give my best mate one final race before cancer takes him.

We’ve only known each other for about a year, but he’s become like a brother to me. He’s now in palliative care with terminal lung cancer. He had his 3rd dose of immunotherapy today, and the goal is simple: to try and buy him two more years. Even while fighting this, he’s still showing up for others.

Here’s the part that breaks your heart and fills it at the same time:

He’s the primary carer for his wife, who is also in palliative care—and he still looks after her. Both of them are in wheelchairs. They’ve been married for 45 years, and he continues to care for her because he’s a good man, a good husband, and someone who inspires me every single day.

What keeps him going? Cars, pride, laughter—and one last race.

His dream is to drive his 1962 Chrysler Valiant S Series down the strip at Kwinana Motorplex one last time. He’s building it tough—big or small block, possibly a blower, maybe nitrous. He’s not playing around. And we’ve got a $500 wager riding on it. His Aussie muscle vs. my JDM dream.

I want to build a street-legal Nissan 180SX with a forged 2JZ—not just to race him, but to cruise with him, make memories, and honour this incredible man and what he’s fighting through.

We’re capturing the entire journey on YouTube—from the build to the final run. I’ll carry him in and out of the car if I have to. I made him a promise, and I won’t break it.

Reddit, I need your help.
This race is real. This love story is real. This fight is real.
Donate if you can. Share it if you can’t. Let’s give him the final lap he deserves.

Bro got a go fund for a project to race blood, nah I congratulate you

  2. Sorry to hear about your mate… But if this GoFundMe was for his car, I would donate. This is going to your car….? I get that it’s his memory and there’s a “$500” wager on this. But why are you trying to get money to build your car? If you really wanted this to happen and be the best “mate” get a loan and get it done ASAP.

This post just comes across as scummy even if your intentions are good.
