Heading to Tokyo – Stopover in Hakodate (#005)

Ohio one last time uh from Saporo. As you can see on my forehead, I’m already sweating heavily, which means like I’m already on the way to my next destination, which is Hakodate. That’s why I’m already at the uh Sakuro station here and on the way to the um Shinkansen to Hakodate. Uh I’m not sure yet when the next shin uh shinkansen will leave but uh I’m about to find out and uh yeah actually uh I’m definitely looking forward because um yeah I want to see the whole of Japan. So today’s the day I finally made my way make my way to uh Tokyo somewhere here should be I think it’s there. I think I have to go here. I’m not going. Yeah, we can fit in, I think. Yeah. [Applause] Winter. Uhhuh. Winter cold. Yeah. The weather here in Hokkaido is like in Dosu. Kind of similar. Ah, okay. Yeah. Okay. I go here. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. You buy I buy there. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, I’m here actually. So, this is the line. Uh very nice uh very very nice man I just met. Uh he also went to Germany actually. Um and uh yeah, really had a nice conversation. Unfortunately, the camera did not roll, but uh anyway, uh very nice. Uh, he helped me to get here. I probably would have figured out myself 10 times more time, but now I’m fast. So, if you can see this, thank you so much. I’m not sure if this is the right lane. It’s for reserved seats only, but I don’t know if you can buy it here or if you buy it online. Yeah. So, I just bought the ticket from uh Saporo to Hakodate. Uh my train is leaving at uh 12:9 p.m. And yeah, now I’m just about to uh see where uh the train is leaving. But I think I have to go into this direction. So yeah, let’s let’s go to the gates or to the to the tracks. Yeah, I found the right tracks. There’s the right train to uh Hakadate. Thank God there is an [Music] elevator. I’m actually already a little bit early, but uh it’s okay. I think I will get something to eat here first, like a snack. And uh yeah, I don’t want to I don’t want to rush with all my luggage. So, I just took my time, easy, slowly getting here. And now I just uh wait until the J train arrives. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Since I have some couple minutes left, I decided to uh try out like uh uni giri from this stands. So far, I only tried the uni giris from uh 7-Eleven. And yeah, I want to see how they uh taste here at this uh small shop. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] Okay. Okay. So, this [Music] is Yes. [Music] train is actually arriving. Thank you. Before that, I will eat the became such a staple event since I’m here and for the people. So good. Let’s try this one. This is the first one I tried. [Music] [Music] That’s breakfast though. This is one [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] I think I’m in I think I’m in the uh correct uh train. Yeah, that’s my that’s my state. I think you are finished. [Music] [Music] Miami. All right. So, I finally made it to Hakodate after 3 to 4 hours uh in the train. Initially, I wanted to actually work on some video, but unfortunately, there was not a plug for power uh at the seats. So I just enjoyed the views and uh the landscape. It was a very scenic uh ride. What I kind of noticed is like uh the areas are not very densely populated but uh and a lot of uh properties are like abandoned. There’s a lot of abandonment in those areas. But the cool thing is what I what I like is like uh no matter how you know abandoned something looks, it’s always very clean, very tidy. You know, they they really put a lot of sense into being tidy and clean. And uh yeah, Nihonichi [Music] Yeah, guys, welcome to Hakodate. This is like the last uh big city in Hokkaido. Uh actually if you come from Tokyo, this is the first big city in Hokkaido. Since I started in Sapuro, this is the last one I visit. And uh yeah, looks very cool. So what I’m going to do now is uh I will uh try to get rid of my luggage as soon as possible. Uh I just want to go to the hotel uh leave my stuff there and then I want to eat something and afterwards I want to visit the mountain above Hakodate. Since yesterday I wanted to go to Mount Muria uh Muria Yama in Sapuro but unfortunately I I fell asleep the whole night uh the and slept the whole evening uh unfortunately but it’s it’s not as bad because I saw Saporo from above already from the TV tower which is fine but uh yeah this time I will go to the hill above Hakodate uh uh which I will check out later. Yeah, when it comes to climate, actually, I feel like it’s a little bit fresher here than compared to Saporo, which is weird because Saporo is far more in the north. But it could be since Hakodati is really right at the shoreline and uh Sapuro is not. So maybe that’s that adds up. But I don’t complain since I’m always uh sweating like crazy. I will not complain. So, this is my hotel. Hotel all in well. I actually can’t wait to eat something good. Man, I’m starving. I was actually expecting that uh the um the train have something like bro um like uh you know just a snack bar or something like that, but it was not the case. I also asked someone but nah, it’s it was not the case. Not even something to drink. So, I’m thirsty and hungry both. Hi, Benjamin. Hi. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Then then Yeah. So, this hotel definitely has seen better days. Wouldn’t be surprised if I might be the only guest. Five. That’s it. This was what uncle meant. Like this. There you go. lights there. Yeah. This is like what you get for budget. This is the view. Yeah. I will just stay here for one night anyway. It’s okay. So, the first thing I need to check is I’m not sure I I already I’m pretty sure I already paid. I gave them now 5,500 yen. Uh, which is like three 35. Yeah, 35. Should be 35, something like that. And I need to check if I already paid. Yeah. Okay. So, it turned out it was fine. Um, because I just checked it’s definitely I have to pay here. It’s all fine. Uh, the mistake was on my side. Um, you just never know, you know. Bathroom looks also very very clean. Not the newest. It’s probably also seen better days. But uh what I always love about Japan, it’s all, you know, the stuff could be worn out, could be old, but look how good in shape it is. Look how clean it is. Even though you can see that the the you know the equipment and the the the everything here is clearly at least 20 30 40 years old but it’s it’s it’s very clean you know that’s what I that’s what I really really uh appreciate about Japan. So, we’re back at Hakulati station and um I’m not sure if I will go to the place I intended to go because uh I just uh see that you get also very delicious stuff here. So, check this out. You have here the ramen as well. But, uh I had ramen the last two or three days. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I can get it eat it all day, but I want to try something new. Um, I want to try sushi. It’s my fifth day in Japan and I haven’t tried sushi. So, I will probably go for this one. This looks very, very nice. And I’m so hungry. And I can definitely eat some some some good fish. Let’s go. Hungry, man. Hungry AF. This is it. I think you you okay? No. No. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. No. No. Wasabi. Yeah. Okay. So, I accidentally clicked this one because I was wondering when the uh waitress is coming or the waiter and this is how you can call them. I didn’t know. But now I know this appetizers. So it’s finally here. What should I do first? [Music] So, um, honestly, the food was okay, but uh, if I if I think about that, I actually paid um more for this meal now than I paid for my whole accommodation here in Hakodate. It was kind of a little bit underwhelming. Um, I’m still hungry because it was just a couple bites. Also, I felt like the uh presentation on the on the menu was uh much much more much much bigger than it was actually than uh what I got. And it was crazy expensive. It was okay, but uh I’m still still hungry. But thank God they have a Lawson behind me where I will get the cheap I love so much. some oniri and some karagi or something like that. So, let’s go. Awesome. You are my life lifesaver. What is this? Tuna mayo. Oh, spicy bullet. Grilled salmon flakes. Which one is that? Oh, for sure. And some eggs. That’s for sure. Eggs. You can’t get enough with eggs. Now, I definitely want also want something sweet. I just don’t know yet what So, I’m on the way now to Hakate Yama, which is like in this direction. And uh yeah, I just I just need to go to the traum, which will take me to the cable car from where I can uh go up the mountain. Yeah. See there? There’s the station for the tram. That’s where we’re heading right now. [Music] [Music] So, right now we are here and that’s where we’re heading. So, we have to cross the street and then we just have to follow this road until we’re here. Okay, let’s go. Uh, actually I’m still kind of pissed a little bit about myself that they really bought like sushi for 4,500 uh yen when I could have had probably ramen which would have been much much better for 900 uh yen. Yeah, this was definitely lesson learned. Tsunami escape building. And it gets steeper and steeper. For sake, I could also walk walk up there by myself almost. This thing didn’t get packed until the last bit. See [Music] people. So here we are. So let’s go to the observation deck. Actually I think if you go by bus it’s almost equally good as good because here you could end up in the uh cabar you could end up in the middle which means you will see nothing from the view and uh it’s very packed. So maybe bus is also an alternative and it’s also uh cheaper. Wow. So this is the view. [Music] [Music] And of course, no drone. Took my drone with me for free for nothing. [Music] Yeah. And here’s the backside. I don’t know if this is also still part of Hakalate. I guess so. I think here you can, if you’re insane, you can actually also walk up here. And I think this is where you end up. But I’m not insane. It was already enough that I had to to walk through a cable car. This was enough fitness for today. There was like a school class and uh one of the the guys, you know, there’s always this guy who who wants to be cocky. A har. Because Japanese cannot pronounce the L. They say it’s uh they cannot pronounce the L. And he was like, “Hello.” And I uh answered him uh with uh Kawa. He was like, “Oh yeah, Gin speaks.” Actually, today a lot the the whole uh area has flooded with uh school pupils. I don’t know, maybe there’s a special day today or maybe this is just the the regular amount of uh uh students or pupils are visiting. But yeah, it was definitely the best decision to come here at night. Check this out, man. Wow. What a view. [Music] So, uh I’ll end the video for now. Um I will stay here for some time and afterwards I will go uh back to the hotel because tomorrow I will go to Almuri. And yeah, that’s it for today. I’m signing off. Peace.
