Hope you’re making a calendar, Houston, because June is festival month in H-Town. From the annual, blockbuster Comicpalooza, to Dream Con, Texas Monthly Taco Fest, Pride, and more: the festivities are about to go into full effect this June. Add to your list Tokyo X.

Tokyo X is an indoor Japanese festival taking place June 14 – 15 at NRG Center. The food, anime, and pop festival is a celebration of Japan’s rich culture, past and present, bringing a wide range of attractions to NRG ranging from anime voice actors to samurai demonstrations, live music, cosplay, and even ramen eating contests.

For food lovers, the event will feature a wide array of culinary vendors including Christina Ha’s Stuffed Belly, Sandoitchi, as well as Dumpling Haus and visiting vendors from Japan. Sake tasting is also on the menu for those with a VIP ticket.

As with similar festival, Tokyo X will feature an array of merchandise and artist vendors, panels, workshops, meet-ups, and after parties. Featured events at this year’s Japanese festival in Houston include a traditional Okinawa dance, karate, and Taiko performance by Emerald Coast Okinawa.

Other events include the festival’s debut of Tokyo X Idol Fest where singers can showcase their vocals; One Piece and Pokemon card tournament; and Cosplay Contest for the chance to win a thousand-dollar cash prize.

The festival will feature a number of special guests in performance, cosplay, acting, voice acting, and martial arts. Its guests of honor this year include voice actor, Miyu Irino; cosplay artist and costume designer, Yaya Han; Mecha artist and illustrator, Tenjin Hidetaka; and actor, Bin Furuya.

Tickets to Tokyo X are still on sale starting at $30.48 for a one-day pass (June 15). VIP options are also available starting at $168.44, which include two-day access, sake-tasting access, and more. VIP tickets for one-day passes are sold out.

Tokyo X takes place at NRG Center located at 1 Fannin Street on June 14 and June 15.
