Rumors of a major natural disaster that is expected to strike Japan this July has led thousands of East Asian tourists to cancel or delay their travel plans. The fear is rising because of a Japanese manga that some believe has predicted past events, which is causing a wave of panic on social media.
The manga is ‘The Future I Saw’ by artist Ryo Tatsuki, which was first published in 1999. It recently resurfaced due to a 2021 reissue. It warns of a massive crack forming under the sea between Japan and the Philippines, triggering a devastating tsunami. The comic became well-known in the past after people claimed it had predicted the 2011 Tohoku earthquake.
This is a developing story.
