I’ve been a Copen owner for nearly 20 years.
It’s a kei car, but don’t let the size fool you — it has a turbocharged 660cc engine and a power retractable hardtop.
I just finished translating the full 2005 official catalog into English — including factory photos, specs, optional gear, and rare trim info.
Here’s the archive:

It’s not a Miata. It’s a shape-shifter.

Do people normally confuse these with mx5s? Looks nothing like it lol
I’m a Daihatsu fan, I own a L901 Daihatsu Move (1999) in France, and I kind of disliked the Copen until I met my best friend and [his unique Copen](https://www.reddit.com/r/taikonotatsujin/s/dZNh9FXHkb) in Belgium.
As the Copen could be confused with a Miata, the Daihatsu Move is often taken as a moped car here by some people (which is a category of smaller cars limited to 45km/h), this is frustrating.
Just seen one today, always loved that thing. They put a 4 banger in it here in Germany instead of the 3 pot.
