I Went Guitar Shopping in Osaka… Is This Guitar Heaven?

Today we’re in Asaka, Japan. So, we are going to look at some guitar shops in the city. But first, we needed a coffee. So, I wasn’t really sure what I’d find exploring Asaka’s guitar shops, but I came across some pretty amazing places. From vintage gear to unique Japanese Fenders, each shop had its own vibe. Okay, so here we are in Ishibashi Guitars here in Asak around the corner from American Mura. thing. The thing that I found here was crazy. It’s this massive wall of Gibson behind me. They’ve really got literally every single thing. Just wish there was a shop like this in Australia. Hey, so you can see there’s Juice and BS behind me. Over here, there’s a whole wall of Fender custom short guitars, which is pretty exciting. There’s stuff like Campbell signature guitars I saw before. Really amazing experience in here. One of the coolest things here at Ishibashi was the Gibson wall. No doubt the fact that you could try different models at different price points was a really great thing. So you could try a tribute, a studio, special, classic, standard 50s60s modern custom shop and see where your money is going. Here I find in Sydney while some of these things are available, you have to flip from shop to shop and to have them both in front of you and effectively AB them is awesome. Then of course there was all the different Fender Japan models. Often they have different kinds of colors available to the American and Mexican models, which is super cool. Next stop, let’s go. So, at Ishibashi, we had two floors of guitars, which was pretty cool. But here at Mickey Gaki, we have four floors of guitars. Amazing place. I think there’s probably more guitars in here than there are in the whole of Sydney. So, I’m on the vendor floor at the moment. You can see we’ve got a whole room of custom shop guitars here behind me. So when we got in there, I just had to play one. [Music] So he he said that this is the low cut. Yeah. Cuts out quite a lot. Yeah. What a beautiful guitar. And check out that finish. Holy smokes. All right, next up we went to the Gibson floor, which is on the third floor. There was absolutely everything in here you could want from Gibson custom shops all the way down to the traditional models. All types of models, 335s, 336s, so many different lees combinations with the different pickups, mini humbuckers, P90s, and to my friend Carl’s delight, there were a bunch of left-handed guitars available, too, just like this gold top. [Music] [Music] So, we’re meant to have gone to about four or five guitar shops. Today, it’s already 4:30, and we’ve just come out of Nikki Gaku, which was an amazing experience and had every kind of guitar you could possibly imagine. Can it get any better? Let’s find out next. See you at the next shot. [Music] So, our final stop for the day ended up being Second Street Guitars. Now, whilst this shop was a bit smaller than the others, it did have some really cool things in it. It seemed to specialize predominantly in used and vintage guitars. So, if you wanted to pick up a used Gibson or a used Fender custom shop, this would be a great option. So, while I love all the USAmade stuff, if you really want to pick yourself up a bargain whilst you’re here in Japan, I would highly recommend checking out some of the used Japanese-made guitars, Mustangs, Jaguars, all sorts of really cool things, including, of course, some. Okay, that’s us for today here in Osaka. We have been to four different guitar shops. Details are in the descriptions. I’ve got to say though, if you do have a chance to come here, the one to go to is Mickey Gaki. It was absolutely unbelievable. They have each and every single thing there if you are short of time. And I have all day to walk around. But all day walking around, having something to eat, few drinks, checking out some cool guitars was really awesome. I’ll see you next time. Thanks very much for watching. Bye for now. [Music] [Music]
