Built over 400 years ago, Kumamoto Castle is one of Japan’s most iconic and resilient fortresses. It suffered significant damage during the 2016 earthquakes, and you’ll see some of the remaining reconstruction and rubble throughout this video.

The journey begins near Suidocho Bridge and continues through the city streets, capturing the atmosphere of local life as the sun begins to set. As the sky turns gold and orange, the view of Kumamoto Castle becomes even more striking, framed by the trees and cityscape.
