【ホテル探訪】一日一組限定!!バナナ畑に囲まれた癒しの一棟貸宿「芭蕉の家」暮らすように旅をする【沖縄・南城市】

Hello everyone, this is Okada from Architect’s Vacation. This is my trip to Okinawa [part 3]. For the final part, I’m heading to Nanjo City, located in the southern part of the main island of Okinawa. Nanjo City, which I’ll be visiting this time, is about 30 minutes by car from Naha City. It is also a treasure trove of history and culture, including the sacred Kudaka Island and Sefa Utaki , a world heritage site . There are also spots where you can experience the rich nature, and it is a place where you can spend time at one with nature in the unique tranquility of Okinawa. So , let’s take a trip together to find out what kind of wonderfully designed trip awaits us.Before heading to the inn, we started by eating Okinawa soba while walking around , and the rental car driver said that it was the No. 1 Okinawa soba. The place I was looking for was Tamaya Soba. There are many local customers inside the store, and it has a local atmosphere. This time I will be staying at a rented inn with a kitchen that has the theme of “traveling as if I were living there.” I would like to head there while procuring ingredients. It ‘s fun just looking at the ingredients that can only be found in Okinawa.Next , I stopped at a bakery called Boulangerie, which had an eye-catching green door and a large logo painted all over the wall. enne (Boulangerie Enne) Based on the concept of “hard breads that can be eaten every day,” they offer around 25 types of soft and hard breads baked with simple ingredients every day. Our next stop was “The Cheese”, which sells handmade cheese from Okinawa. Shop (Mr. John’s shop)” We have a wide variety of cheeses, from standard types to cheeses made with Okinawan ingredients such as rakkyo and shikuwasa. We sampled many different types of cheese in the store. We decided to buy the ones we liked and enjoy them for breakfast tomorrow. Our last stop was at an ice cream shop that is loved by the locals. San BM Tamagusuku Farm Milk’s Milk Factory EM Tamaki Farm Milk’s Milk Factory We have a variety of Okinawan flavors such as passion fruit, brown sugar, and red yam, as well as rich soft-serve ice cream directly managed by the farm. Now that we’ve gotten the ingredients and prepared our stomachs, we’re ready to head to our hotel. The hotel we’ll be staying at this time is Naha Airport. Approximately 40 minutes by car from “Basho no Ie”, a rental inn surrounded by forests and banana fields in the southern part of the main island of Okinawa, surrounded by forests and banana fields.“Basho no Ie” was built on land that was originally a banana field . The name “Basho” comes from the banana (fruit basho). When you first arrive, you are greeted by dense banana fields and subtropical plants . It looks like the building is located at the end of a path through a banana field , so let’s take a look. It’s an exciting approach space. As you walk for about 10 meters, the building gradually comes into view. The inn was designed by Ken Fujimoto, a woodworker, with the concept of creating a place where people would really want to live . Everything from the interior to the furniture and fittings is hand-crafted by ourselves. The exterior has a rustic and warm exterior surrounded by typical Okinawan plants. As you walk around to the back of the building, you will see the entrance. The wild atmosphere with lush plants at the back is also wonderful.Let ‘s go inside. When you open the door, you will be greeted by a spacious dining and kitchen space. There is a large window in front of the room , which lets in soft light and gently connects to the terrace under the eaves. As soon as you step outside, you will see a calm and comfortable space filled with greenery. It is an attractive landscape that makes you want to just stare at it.When you enter the room, you will find a concrete floor, white painted wooden walls, and wooden furniture and furniture scattered around. There is a space where you can gently blend in. There is also a bookshelf here so that you can spend a relaxing time in the room, and the owner’s good sense can be seen from the carefully selected selection of books. The dining room and kitchen are gently separated by a 20 cm wide counter . Here you can make coffee or cook while looking at the scenery. The kitchen space is equipped with a stainless steel counter and sink. All cooking utensils are also available, so you can enjoy your stay as if you were living there while cooking for yourself.Next , let’s take a look at the tableware that is placed. In addition to works by the owner, Mr. Fujimoto, there are also ceramics made in the southern part of the kitchen , such as Miyagi Pottery, Tobo Makiya, and bonoho . The main feature of this inn is that you can freely use any of the dishes, and you can enjoy the luxury of enjoying the dishes you have cooked yourself in dishes made by popular artists. In addition, the dishes have wonderful colors and textures that perfectly blend in with the atmosphere of this inn.All of the furnishings are of outstanding taste, and just looking at them will soothe your soul. There is also a washing machine and dryer next to the entrance, which is very helpful when you are staying for a long time.Next , let’s take a look at the space at the back of the room. This is a one-step raised area where you can take off your shoes.Going to the back, there is a bedroom space with two beds. The biggest feature is the picture window where you can see the beautiful scenery as if it were a picture. At the back of the building, you can feel the deep greenery up close, and on the other side, you can enjoy a spacious view that looks out over the forest.Next , let’s take a look at the space surrounded by concrete blocks located in the center of the building. This is a water area where the toilet, sink, and bathroom are integrated. There is a simple washstand, and behind it is an impressive navy tile. There is a bathtub space, so I would like to do a room tour here and then relax and enjoy my stay.Mosquito coils are also provided here, so you can be sure to prevent insects. Also , for those who are concerned about privacy , there are blinds installed under the eaves, which you can quickly pull down like this . Doucatty is a tenugui workshop that uses the traditional dyeing technique known as Doucatty.Their designs are unique in that they dye animals, fish, plants, and other motifs in vivid Okinawan colors.I was impressed by their heartwarming service , including handwritten receipts and illustrations of the motifs on the freshly purchased towels.Next , I was told that I would be able to see another newly built inn in front of Basho’s House , so let’s go there. Just a minute walk down the road in front of Basho’s House is this “Tabibito House.” This building also has an impressive calm exterior with the warmth of wood. When you open the front door, you will find a spacious living space. When you open the door on the other side, a pleasant breeze passes through, creating a relaxing space surrounded by greenery. The layout of each room surrounds this living room. This is the kitchen/dining space. The impressive green tiles on the wall were specially commissioned by Miyagi Pottery. This is the inn. The bright blue color of the “Traveler’s Tree” from which the hotel’s name comes from is very mysterious. “Basho’s House” and “Tabibito’s House” both have different charms, and it’s great that you can choose the one that best suits your way of spending your time. After this, we will head to a restaurant recommended by the host for dinner.Tonight , we will have dinner at a popular local restaurant, “Kappo”, which is about a 5-minute drive away. Always The interior of the restaurant has a somewhat nostalgic and local warmth to it.You can enjoy a wide variety of dishes, from authentic Japanese cuisine made with fresh seafood and vegetables to Okinawan home-cooked dishes such as champuru. “Shimauta Highball” All the dishes were delicious and the cost performance was excellent. It was a very satisfying dinner. Thank you for your meal . At night, the greenery in the back is lit up and you can see a fantastic view. It looks like you will be able to get a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, it was raining on this day. The damp and rainy scenery has a certain charm, which is wonderful. Breakfast will be prepared by ourselves using the ingredients we procured before coming to the inn yesterday. This is The Cheese The yogurt I bought at John’s Shop (John’s shop) has a smoothness similar to the cream cheese. The yogurt is poured with winter melon syrup and cacao nibs. It’s served in a nice bowl and makes for a simple but luxurious breakfast where you can enjoy the local ingredients slowly. After the meal, you can relax and read on the terrace while drinking coffee. Even on rainy days, the appeal of this inn is that you can relax while listening to the sound of the rain thanks to the spacious space under the eaves. As we were doing this, it was lunchtime, so we headed to Tamaki Shokudo, a locally popular restaurant with an attached gallery, located about a 15-minute drive from the inn.We completely renovated the building, which was originally a community center, with our own hands. The beautiful green tiles pasted under the counter are impressive. There is a gallery space in the back of the store, where you can purchase the works of tableware artists that were placed in Basho’s house. If you are looking for food , you can mainly enjoy Taiwanese dishes such as lu rohan and steamed chicken. The dan tai noodles have a strong shrimp flavor. The crispy and refreshing soup goes well with the minced meat for a light and refreshing taste. For dessert, we had the standard “tapioca milk tea” and “mamehua”.We were able to spend a relaxing lunch time in a large and spacious space. How did you like the third part of your trip to Okinawa, “Basho’s House” in southern Okinawa? There are no fancy facilities or services, but as per the concept of “traveling as if you live here” , we were surrounded by forests and banana trees, listening to the chirping of insects and birds, and feeling the pleasant breeze. This time we stayed for 2 nights, but there was a lot to be desired in 2 nights. It was a comfortable inn that made you want to stay for a long time.If you have a chance to visit southern Okinawa, why not give it a try? In this channel, we will deliver a design journey of hotels, villas, etc. from an architect’s perspective.I also went on vacation myself. I hope that by enjoying and experiencing wonderful designs, I can use them to create better spaces. If you are interested in travel and architectural design, please subscribe to the channel and give us a high rating.See you in the next video.Thank you very much.
