POV: You are about to board the fast and beautiful Hayabusa to Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan π―π΅πΎ π
This is the train from Netflixβs Bullet Train Explosion. π
Youβd find Hayabusa to be the most stylish bullet train in Japan: the cool color, the speed (320 km/hβone of he fastest bullet trains in Japan), the shape (with its long nose that help diffuse air before it enter tunnels), and the Gran Class (first class service with 1+2 seat configuration and premium drinks/snacks). π
Of course, you donβt need to ride the Gran Class and Green Class (2+2 seat configuration), the regular seats with its 2+3 configuration is not bad. Bring your own favorite drinks and ekiben, it will feel like Gran Class! π±
The only difference is, although the Green Class and Regular trains are free to book with a proper JR pass, the Gran Class needs an upgrade fee of 18,500 yen if you have a Green Class JR pass. π
Gran Classβs premium sake (Iβve tasted the best sake inside), comfy seats, and snacks are great! Itβs a good experience but you donβt have to do it all the time. ππ
Take Hayabusa from Tokyo station to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station (7 stops, 4 hour ride), then transfer to Hakodate Line for Hakodate Station (2 stops, 15 minute ride). One-way price: 24,500 yen but free with a JR pass. π΄
βΌοΈDefinitely take the Shinkansen to Hakodate. Youβd be in a port city with a rural Japan vibe. Youβd have a morning market, Hakodate Mountain, and the ocean near your hotel. You can even take Hokuto Limited express train to Sapporo for a day trip (3 hour 46 minute ride one way, 9,700 yen but free with JR pass). π
