Hey everyone,
I’m currently importing a JDM Lexus IS250 to Canada through BE FORWARD and I’m in the final stages of the process. My CAP status says “Sent out B/L documents and reflected tracking number on CAP” but the dispatch status isn’t marked as completed yet.
A few questions for those who’ve gone through this:
- How long after that message did you actually receive the documents in the mail (I’m in Calgary)?
- Which courier does BE FORWARD usually use — DHL, FedEx, or EMS?
- Did you run into any issues receiving the documents or with customs clearance afterward?
- Any tips for clearing customs at the New Westminster port? I’m not using a broker and planning to fly in myself. This is my first time self clearing, and if anyone has any advice or could walk me through the process so that I know I'm not missing anything, it would be greatly appreciated.

Haven’t, but I’m on there all the time looking for gems. Let me know how it goes.
1. Average 1-1.5 weeks ( I’m in victoria bc, and they’ve sent my documents to new Brunswick a few times, which put it to 2+ weeks)
2. They use DHL
3. As above, DHL sent my documents to the east coast a few times
4.no advice, as I use a broker.
Do plan for 2-3 days at least, as once you’ve completed customs clearance and everything, you then need to contact port and arrange a tow out time – you cannot go in and get yourself, you need to hire an authorized tow Company to go in for you to pull it out, and these appointments are not generally granted same day, they can be a week out if the port is busy
I just bought a car from this website. I love in Guam so idk how much will apply but I do know for Guam at least, they use DHL
For number 4, I sent a message to the shipping company and asked them what documents I would need to pick up my car. They were quick and polite and super helpful but your results may vary.
They should give you a link to the shipping company. Or a website that will show you. I would reach out to that company via email and ask them.
