HOW TO GET TO HAKONE

Getting to Hakone is simple. The most straightforward routes include taking the Odakyu Railway from Shinjuku Station to Hakone-Yumoto Station, taking JR trains to Odawara Station, or using the Odakyu Bus to reach the Lake Ashi area.

From these points, you can continue your journey via local trains, buses, or cable cars to meet your accommodation staff at the designated pickup location. Most hotels offer complimentary transfers from these stations, but you’ll need to inform them in advance to arrange it.

Alternatively, some hotels can arrange luxury transportation for you, though this option tends to be more expensive.

1. It is highly recommended to book a room with both breakfast and dinner when staying in Hakone. Although the area has some restaurants, most open late and close early, making the hotel’s breakfast a convenient and reliable choice.

Regarding dinner (and breakfast in some hotels), it is essential to arrive at your hotel’s restaurant on time. If you are significantly late, the hotel may refuse to serve you, even if you have already paid for the meal.

2. As with many other destinations in Japan, most public onsens do not permit tattoos. If you wish to enjoy a hot spring experience, it’s best to book accommodations that offer private onsens for a more comfortable and relaxing soak.

3. Most hotels and resorts in Arima Onsen offer complimentary transfer services, but advance reservation is required. Be sure to contact them beforehand if you need this service.
