Night-time Illuminations at Ogawasuwa Shrine #fukushima

See a sky full of cherry blossoms at Ogawasuwa Shrine in Iwaki!

Iwaki in the south-east of Fukushima sees some of the earliest cherry blossoms of the year, and people flock from all over the region to visit this famous shrine in full bloom. The great weeping cherry tree here is said to be over 650 years old.

There is parking nearby but it gets extremely busy during illumination season, and especially on weekends. Food stalls are set up near the entrance to the shrine grounds, giving it a festival atmosphere 🍡

いわき市の小川諏訪神社では、シダレザクラが満開となり見頃を迎えています！
小川諏訪神社の桜はしだれ桜なので、
風が吹くと枝垂れたピンクの枝が可憐に揺れます🥰
樹齢650年以上を誇り、市の天然記念物にも指定されているシダレザクラ。
昼間はもちろんのこと、夜ライトアップされて幻想的に浮かび上がる姿は
おもわずうっとりしてしまう美しさです…✨
今週末は絶好のお花見日和ですね🌸
