Watch the launch of one of the world’s largest 4-foot ball fireworks from a special reserved spectator seat during the Katakai Festival through this dedicated two-day fireworks and premium food experience.
The Katakai Festival is an annual autumn celebration at Asahara Shrine. Fireworks serve as dedications to the shrine, with individuals and companies expressing sentiments through contributions. The town of Katakai, where the festival is held, is the birthplace of the famous sanshakudama firework. The even bigger yonshakudama, which has an 800-meter-diameter burst, is recognized as the one of the world’s largest fireworks.
During the first day of the tour, guests will take part in a fireworks-themed Japanese confectionary-making experience at long-established Japanese sweets shop Mogamiya, followed by a tea ceremony held using National Treasure-level tea utensils at the Kimura Tea Ceremony Museum. In the evening, experience the richness of Niigata’s food through premium dining, featuring the best local ingredients.
The second day, choose from a number of foodie experiences, followed by lunch prepared by up-and-coming local chefs. The afternoon and evening are dedicated to learning about and enjoying fireworks. You’ll start by exploring launch sites and watching a video interview of seven representative fireworks artists in the region. Once the sun starts to set, you can relax and watch the colorful fireworks spectacle while savoring an innovative dinner prepared by top-notch international chefs.
