When traveling around Kyushu prefectures such as Kumamoto or Oita, a day trip stop at Takachiho Gorge (ι«εη©ε³‘, Takachiho-kyΕ) is a must. Weβll show you how you can visit for as little as an hour or two, complete with easy walks and waterfalls.
Plus, while renting a rowboat is a popular activity, there are plenty of ways to enjoy this area without one.
Takachiho Gorge is in a northwestern rural part of Miyazaki Prefecture. Itβs a worthwhile detour when traveling between Kumamoto or Oita prefectures on Japanβs southern main island of Kyushu.
Our family of four stopped by in a rental car when we were relocating from a month stay in Kumamoto to a month stay in Oita City.

That was beautiful scenery in this video. I would probably forego the cost of the boat vue also. It looked like you could see the falls ok from the land. Keep having fun. If I was there, I would be gorging food.Cheers!! Illinois, USA
